Fouremco Posted May 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2017 I suggest that you head over to the Florida Departures board: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495 There are lots of threads there asking about hotel recommendations for Fort Lauderdale. Rare Cruise Raider Posted May 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Better yet ... just go to Cruise Critic's sister site, Trip Advisor. Use this in conjunction with one of the online booking sites to see which ones have airport shuttles. Using these tools, we are staying at the Hyatt Place which was rated very well, has airport shuttles and gives you breakfast in the morning. It was a pretty good deal ... much more now than when we booked. And, the rooms have that additional square footage and they also have a shuttle service (for a fee) to the pier in Ft Lauderdale. If going to Miami, one of the shuttle services picks you up at this hotel and takes you to the Port of Miami for $15 pp. How can you go wrong. fielddreamer Posted May 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2017 We stayed at the Hyatt before and it was great. We had dinner the night before at the Outback which is right next door and there is a shopping center a block over which has a lot of different stores. There is a great place to eat called "Duffys" which has a great patio to eat outside if you want. We used Lyft to the dock for $6 plus tip. I liked to use them because we do not have to do the "stopping at every ship " before ours thing. We are doing this all over in Dec this year ! Have a great time! Rare chemmo Posted May 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Embassy Suites, evening cocktail hour and breakfast included. Microwave and fridge in room, several shops and restaurants nearby...Shuttles to port, I seem to remember at a nominal charge.
Tiggertastic Posted May 6, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Get the right Hyatt though, the one on the 17th bridge has nothing near it. Fabulous hotel but if you wander out on foot there's only a gas station. However it's great f you have no plans to go out or take a taxi for a few dollars. We stayed further out last time at the Sonesta, it's a good bar across the back with food, beach opposite and 10 minute walk to galleria mall. Overpriced shuttles:eek: That round trip per person rate to the port would pay for a full cab of riders.

katkris Posted May 7, 2017 #18 Share Posted May 7, 2017 We stayed at the Crowne Plaza, Fort Lauderdale Airport. It was a 5 minute drive from the airport and 5 minutes to the cruise terminal. The hotel was very clean. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, too. Their shuttle picked us up at the airport and we took their shuttle to the cruise port. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return.
chaka7969 Posted May 8, 2017 #19 Share Posted May 8, 2017 17th St. Renaissance I agree. This is absolutely the best! with many restaurants in the area, also a short walk to the water taxi for a mini tour or to go to water front dining!
Slemteacher Posted May 8, 2017 #20 Share Posted May 8, 2017 We stayed at the renaissance, it cost $9 by cab from airport. The next morning we called a cab just after 10, cost about $11 to cruise port-super easy! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
STIguy Posted May 8, 2017 #21 Share Posted May 8, 2017 I highly recommend the Southport Raw Bar. A fifty year old institution dive bar mostly for locals. On Cordova Dr. Quarterdeck across the street is good too.
Marelaine Posted May 8, 2017 #22 Share Posted May 8, 2017 The Hyatt Place airport/cruiseport had everything we needed. Breakfast and shuttle to and from the airport is included. There was a small fee for the shuttle to the port. Shuttle was available to Hard Rock Casino and various other places.
a.madruga Posted May 8, 2017 #23 Share Posted May 8, 2017 Embassy Suites awesome five minutes to port and free parking while cruising and free ride to and from ship. We've used them twice before and excellent service all around.
