Good morning from the Pacific Princess. We are approaching the first set of locks in the Panama Canal. It is truly a great sight to see in person. This is what I've been waiting for since booking this cruise in June of 2015. I'll have a ton of additional pictures to post on my flickr site after the cruise is over and we get back home.

Hope all are well.....:):):)

Good evening from the Pacific Princess. We just returned from dinner in the MDR which was another great meal. I wanted to give a quick shout out to shout out to our waiter Romeo and his assistant Christopher who are both from the Philippines. Their service is over the top excellent each and every night.

Short post tonight as I'm kinda tired. More tomorrow.....:):):)

Bob

Does Romeo ever go home? He's been on the ship every time, all the time we've been on it (around 250 days in just over two years). He is fantastic, as so many of them are on the Pacific Princess!

Thanks for all the good wishes. Discharge today! Now the rehab work starts.

We are now entering the second set of locks.

One quick thing I wanted to pass on for those who may not have heard and before I forgot to post it. About an hour ago, I was downstairs talking to the Future Cruise Consultant. He told me he watched a corporate promo commercial from the Carnival Corporation CEO. The CEO stated that on the next Royal Class ship that comes out, they wil be getting rid of Princess Live and going back to an Explorer's type lounge. This is second hand information only as I did not view the commercial.....

Wow, that's fantastic news - hopefully no more horribly tight seats where you can't sit with your team plus tables for drinks - thanks for sharing. Roll on 2019!

Tried to watch you going thru the locks but their cameras were down [emoji35] We could watch your travel via live gps feed.

Hi Bob: I am catching up on this thread. I am so enjoying your journey. I have not done Panama Canal. This is going on my list to do. Say, "Hi" to Holli for me. Remember at the Vatican when the tour guide was moving really fast. I was one of the two of us who hung back to point out which way she was going.

Nice to see you checking in. I remember that Vatican excursion well. That guide was practically sprinting.....

Thanks for sharing Bob. Getting rid of Princess Live is good news to me. An Explorer's type lounge to me would be much better.

That is good news. We enjoyed what we did in Princess Live but do prefer Explorer's. I wonder where this Royal class will sail. So many ships but only 6 weeks of paid vacation a year!! I shouldn't say only:):):) I'm very lucky to have the paid time off I have. I've earned it and with my work booming in this economy (I'm part commission and part salary) I'm able to use my vacation time for fun, fun, fun!!!

Your thread has made me decide to do a Panama Canal cruise. It wasn't on my list but I'm looking foto it now.

Good afternoon all. We just cleared the Gatun Locks and are in the Atlantic Ocean. Next stop Santa Marta Columbia.....:):):)

Bob

Enjoy Columbia! I am looking forward to your pictures on Flickr. I know someone from Columbia and he's going to help me with a private guide when I go.

We did not care for the Royal Class layout / design, but this may make it worth a look going forward. Never understood the "College Lecture Hall" approach to entertainment (Princess Live). Glad it will be gone and that a multi-purpose lounge will come back. Great news.

A very late good evening (2341 local time) from the Pacific Princess. We are currently headed to Santa Marta Columbia after a great day transiting the Panama Canal. The above picture is the last set of the Gatun Locks as we neared the Atlantic Ocean side of the Panama Canal. I must say that this time (the last time I was here was 16 years ago on Celebrity), I paid much more attention to what an engineering marvel the Panama Canal really is. I urge those of you who have not been here, to definitely book a full transit cruise.

This will be short as I am kinda tired after spending several hours touching up and categorizing the pictures I've already taken for eventual uploading to my flickr site.

Hope all are well.....:):):)

According to the Princess Captain's Circle/Future Cruise Consultant, the Royal will definitely be sailing out of Los Angeles next year.....:):):)

Good morning all from the Pacific Princess. Today is a full sea day as we head towards Santa Marta Columbia. Weather today is supposed to get to get to the mid 80's with a moderate amount of humidity. All in all, not too bad, just a tad sticky.

Last night Holli and I decided to partake in the suite perk of dining in our suite. We ordered from the MDR dinner menu. The food arrived quickly and was very good. One thing we did is to only order an appetizer and a main course. We did this since Princess serves everything all at once and we didn't want our food to get cold.

Not much on tap for today other than to relax. I just got back from a good cardio workout in the gym. I'm trying to increase my cardio workouts while at the same time cutting down on the amount of calories I'v been taking in over the las couple weeks of vacation. Gotta remember all the work related equipment I have to put on the day after we get back home as I'll be right back at it. One fail safe however, is I have a couple pair of fat pants in my locker at work:D.

A reminder that this cruise is on it's way to ending is we got our disembarkation questioner yesterday. Our flights home are via EZ-Air so all I had to do is to purchase two shuttle tickets to Miami. One word about EZ-Air is that this time around, as well as the last cruise, it was much cheaper that any price I could find online.

That's all for now, hope all are well.....:):):)

Ooops, my mistake. You are correct in the year being 2019 and not 2018. Typing and proofreading was definitely never my strong suit.....:D:D:D

Ahhh, don t you just hate that - do they really have to get you thinking about it being over already... [emoji26]

My least favorite part of a cruise: the last day as all I seem to do is think with everything I do "and this is the last time I'll..."

My second least favorite: the dreaded disembarkation questionnaire because that means the above is on its way... [emoji26] [emoji26]

But hopefully you and Holli can overcome it all and keep enjoying!!!

Thanks Bob. I think I was tired when I posted. :):) I know the Royal will be sailing from the West Coast. My niece and I are booked on a West Coast Royal cruise.

I was wondering where the 4th Royal class ship will sail. Time will tell.

Loving your thread.

A late good evening from thePacific Princess. Today was a great leisurely sea day onboard. I did a good cardio workout in the morning then around 1:00pm watched a very cool ice carving demonstration on the pool deck. In the late afternoon, I actually had a little luck in the casino. I didn’t break the bank, but I played one machine for about two hours and still came away ahead over $100. For dinner, we ate in the MDR. There wasn’t much to choose from, to my liking, from the menu but what I eventually chose was still good. Service in the MDR was excellent.

After dinner, we saw the late show in the Cabaret Lounge. Tonight they had magician Gary Carson and Musician David Meyer. Both were great. David played an instrument called Zylo Synth. His performance was fantastic.

Tomorrow is our port stop inSanta Marta Columbia. We are doing a beach resort/folkloric show with lunch. Interesting about this excursion is the beach resort does not accept U.S.dollars.

After Santa Marta we have a sea day before Aruba. I’ll probably pullout my suitcases and begin packing a few items. After our port stop in Aruba, we have two sea days before our wonderful journey concludes in Ft. Lauderdale.

The entertainment for tonight was as follows:

The Wake Show till 1100Channel 21

Destination Presentation:Aruba Cabaret Lounge 0915

Arts/Crafts: Paper Flowers in the Atrium 10:30

Veterans and Military Get-TogetherCasino Bar 1100
