First time Celebrity cruiser and first time Alaska in Aug. Do Celebrity cruises have an info. channel on the tv that shows where you are, distance traveled, sunrise time, etc. like Princess? TIA.

We sailed Alaska in the end of June into July. It was interesting that it never got really dark. At 3AM there was still that dusk/pre-dawn glow to the sky. August may be different since the daylight hours begin to shorten. You might want to leave a request to be awakened if the Northern Lights make an appearance if that is something you're interested in seeing. If your sailing is toward the end of August you may have a better chance of seeing them.

Oh I would definitely do that. So they do not make an announcement over the PA system? Who do leave the request with? I presume they call your cabin. Thanks all.

We were on the 5/17/17 Solstice cruise to Alaska. There was a TV channel which showed where you were currently located in relation to a map of the area. We didn't have it for the first couple of days; someone mentioned that the "receiver" was down. There is another channel that shows the bridge view. One of those channels showed the outside temperature which was continuously 140F, or something similar. I don't recall being able to see on the TV how fast we were moving or how far we'd gone at any particular time, but the captain usually mentioned that in one of his daily PA announcements. As stated earlier, each daily "newsletter" (can't remember what they are called) gave sunrise and sunset and the distance to the next port (immediately after the section where it stated that you would be responsible for getting yourself to the next port if you missed the ship).
