When price drop resulted in price increase

Recommended Posts

I book directly with RCI at the online price of 534.88 pound sterling.

Notice the price has drop to 503.00 ps.

Call RCI and the staff said he will get the price adjusted downwards.

Received an email from RCI to say the new price is 660 ps now.

Email RCI and they email back to say the price is 545 ps now.

Surprise that RCI would act this way.

Your post isn't really clear ...... You are referring to pounds sterling - could the changes be exchange rate versus price in dollars. Most of us who book directly with RC are using the American website and prices.

It has always been my understanding when you book your confirmation gives your price, taxes, port fees, etc., and this is your price. It doesn't fluctuate other than if the price changes, but your price stays at what you booked. If there is a price drop RC will honor up until final payment date and change accordingly, but you have to ask; not automatic.

Doesn't make any sense--II you compare the pricing details what changed? I'm assuming that the pricing quotes are for the fare and nothing else, eg: taxes & fees, grats, etc.

I'm confused too...

Did you not stay on the line to verify the new price and total before agreeing to it?

For me, when I notice a drop, I call my TA/RCI, they verify the number, the new total is noted and then I agree and an email is sent.\

Was that not the case?

Did you not then call the person you spoke with regarding the price drop (surely you took a name) and inquire as to the discrepancy? I think that person would be much more helpful than any of us.

As you found out prices are dynamic and also depend on T&C of the market in which you book. Assuming you get price drops in Singapore (or whatever market in which you booked), you should call back and talk to someone about the situation. Without details, it's hard to tell what's going on.

Looks like RCI (UK) is back pedaling here. They are dropping the price to 503 pounds sterling now for me from my original booking price of 534.88.

"We have reviewed your reservation and we have amended your total back to £503.00 we apologize for the inconveniences. Just as a reminder that you booked this reservation under our UK Market and our number is 0844 493 4005 and email address RoyalCustomerServiceUK@rccl.com for further assistance."
