traveler279 Posted June 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2017 We've booked a b2b in late February and received two price drops on the first cruise. I try to do mock bookings on the second cruise but the category of stateroom we've booked is sold out. Is there any other way to check prices? Goodtime Cruizin Posted June 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2017 I'm not sure that you can. Meaning, I don't see any reason why a merchant would even discount and/or drop the price of a product that is sold out or no longer available in inventory. gerif Posted June 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2017 How can there be a price drop on something that's not even available for sale? Think about it.
grest Posted June 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Instead you can check the price of the next highest category or two. If they are less or equal to what you paid, perhaps you can be upgraded.
traveler279 Posted June 14, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Kind of what I figured. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare mizLORInj Posted June 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2017 I agree with pricing the next higher category or two and asking for an upgrade if there are cabins you would like. It never hurts to ask!
actuarian Posted June 14, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2017 They do not reduce the prices of stateroom categories that are sold out or even in short supply. This sometimes results in a situation where prices of higher category rooms are dropped below prices of lower category rooms. For example, I just checked prices for rooms on the 9/17/2017 Oasis of the Seas cruise. Right now, the base price of a D2 superior ocean view balcony stateroom is $1,254 per person while the base price of a category I ocean view stateroom (with no balcony) is $1,341. On other occasions, I have seen even bigger "price inversions". For example, I once saw the prices of one bedroom Aqua Theater suites drop below the prices of junior suites for the 10/1/2017 Oasis. However, that is no longer the case.
