dinmd Posted June 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2017 We are going on the Horizon out of NY in May 2018. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we should stay. On our last trip from NY we stayed in Hoboken but would like to stay somewhat closer. TIA:) P.S. How do I get these very old sailings off my posts? swodog94 Posted June 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2017 Stay in Manhattan. Use Kayak to look for good rates. Or...since your cruise is next year, pick a hotel chain you like (ex. Marriott, Hyatt, etc.). Join their loyalty program and apply for the co-branded credit card, they usually have a very good sign up bonus. For example, Marriott has an 80,000 point sign up bonus on their Chase credit card, which should be good enough for one night at a Marriott property in Manhattan, maybe even in Times Square. This way you don't have to stay in Hoboken.
coevan Posted June 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2017 We stayed at the London, a little upscale, but very a very nice property.
djhsolara Posted June 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2017 We often stay at the Hampton Inn on 8th Ave. It is close to Times Square if you're interested in seeing anything/dining there...as well as an easy ride to the port. Fla Senior Posted June 26, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2017 For the Vista repo cruise to Miami we stayed at Hotel Edison. Rooms are small but price was good. Two blocks from Times Square and very close to Port.
Rare Noxequifans Posted June 26, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 26, 2017 There are so many choices of hotels in Manhattan. As was suggested use an on-line web site such as Trivago, Tripadvisor, etc to locate a booking. Your budget and hotel location are really the key factors. 138east Posted June 26, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 26, 2017 I'd be looking now and booking a cancellable reservation now. Look at the La Quinta on 32nd St. for a more budget chain hotel.
George C Posted June 26, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2017 We always stay at Michelangelo small upscale hotel, great location 51st and 7th , not cheap but huge rooms all are over 400 sq ft, can normally get decent rate in May
Rare Got2Cruise Posted June 26, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 26, 2017 What are you planning to do while in Manhattan, and are you comfortable using public transportation are two big questions.

The more details the better. Sightseeing plans? Exact dates? Budget? Number of people? Arriving by plane or car? Where did you stay in Hoboken last time? The W hotel is the only real hotel I know of in Hoboken.
