pmd98052 Posted June 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2017 a shame since we planned to use it tomorrow! Notified in cabin tonight it's not running Thur or Fri due to mechanical issues.
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2017 You can still take the public ferry for $4.50.
Kattus Posted June 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2017 That stinks, but not the end of the world. We were on the Breakaway a week before the NCL ferry and didn't have a problem with the 1 day pass for all the buses and ferries. You're going to have to pay for the buses and Hamilton ferry anyway, so it's a non-issue.
Rare BostonGal35 Posted June 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2017 unfortunate, but the bus and ferry is a great way to get around. we always buy the 2 day bus/ferry pass (used to be able to get a 3 day but they wont sell them to you anymore). mimb1 Posted June 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2017 We are on Breakaway Sunday and hoping to use the free ferry to St. George. Does anyone know if this breakdown is a long term repair job and the ferry will not run next week? Thanks
Dis Posted July 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Ferry doesn't seem to be moving today while the Dawn is in port.
Barb Nahoumi Posted July 4, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2017 The 3 day pass is not sold at the Dockyard, but it is available in Hamilton. SBtS Good to know. Thanks. However, we found the two-day pass to be adequate, since we tend to stay in the dockyard area on sailaway day.
Dis Posted July 5, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2017 It still looks like the NCL ferry to St. George is not operating. Are there any updates?

PorkChopKid Posted July 7, 2017 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2017 The America's Cup race is over. Hummmm, bet the NCL ferry stays "broke". No problem, 2 day transportation passes worked fine before. We're on the July 30th sailing and will have a great time none the less....

Rare mking8288 Posted July 8, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 8, 2017 I was on it when it lost it steering. Picture of the tow. Thanks. Question - isn't this a new ferry designed & built for NCL and paid by ... It broke down during inaugural season - warranty claimed against the shipyard builder ?? Or, is this a refurbished & reconditioned ship with a few fresh coat of shinny paint & freshening ?
njhorseman Posted July 8, 2017 #16 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Thanks. Question - isn't this a new ferry designed & built for NCL and paid by ... It broke down during inaugural season - warranty claimed against the shipyard builder ?? Or, is this a refurbished & reconditioned ship with a few fresh coat of shinny paint & freshening ? They are building two ferries that should be placed in service next year. This ferry was chartered to provide the service this season while the NCL-owned ferries are being built. beach Friday Posted July 8, 2017 #18 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Will NCL pay for regular ferry, since it advertised the free ferry?
PorkChopKid Posted July 8, 2017 #19 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Will NCL pay for regular ferry, since it advertised the free ferry? IMHO, wishful thinking. We're on Breakaway's sailing to Bermuda in 3 weeks. Been to Bermuda twice before and will simply come prepared to buy transportation passes..... njhorseman Posted July 8, 2017 #20 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Will NCL pay for regular ferry, since it advertised the free ferry? Where did it advertise the free ferry? As far as I can tell It's not on their website, not on your itinerary, not in your passenger ticket contract. The free ferry was part of an agreement reached with the government of Bermuda to reduce the strain on the public ferry system.
Rare BirdTravels Posted July 8, 2017 #21 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Will NCL pay for regular ferry, since it advertised the free ferry? Nope. And there was no advertisement of a "free ferry".
JayS Posted July 9, 2017 #22 Share Posted July 9, 2017 Thanks. Question - isn't this a new ferry designed & built for NCL and paid by ... It broke down during inaugural season - warranty claimed against the shipyard builder ?? Or, is this a refurbished & reconditioned ship with a few fresh coat of shinny paint & freshening ? As others said it was reconditioned. From the paperwork on the boat I believe it was built in Australia in 2008. When the ferry passenger arrived at the dock NCL personnel took our cabin numbers. I later received a bottle of sparkling wine, some chocolate covered strawberries and credit for some ferry tokens when I presented a receipt. Other than a notice that the ferry was canceled nothing else was said about the ferry.
beach Friday Posted July 9, 2017 #23 Share Posted July 9, 2017 Nope. And there was no advertisement of a "free ferry". It was listed on many of the cruise sites as a freebe for this cruise
njhorseman Posted July 9, 2017 #24 Share Posted July 9, 2017 It was listed on many of the cruise sites as a freebe for this cruise That's the cruise sites' advertising, not NCL's.
