What I don't understand is if you sit in the black jack table let's say you get $200.00 in chips may be you lost $40.00 and you go to cash in the rest or lets say may be you won $40.00 and you go to cash it in how does the casino cadge know if you won or lost and how much you have OBC left? I can't see it happening

Yep, I believe this loophole still exists. I've heard that in some cases (non-refundable OBC) they give you promo chips - although I never saw anyone with promo chips on my recent Reflection cruise. If you had promo chips your winnings are paid in regular chips - meaning that you could cash in these chips for cash.

It is not a loophole. As I explained in a previous post, you are only obligated to give the casino as much play as OBC you take out. In other words, once you have sat at any table and played through your promotional chips, whatever you have left, win lose or draw, is yours to do keep. The same goes with slot machines.

My wife and I were quite successful in laundering our OBC on the slots last year. We would play relatively small amounts and just at the point the credit ran out (and you start to play your winnings) we would cash out - take the winnings receipt(s) to the cashier your cash is clean and yours to spend however you like it not at all

Not sure if old time money laundering tactics on roulette are barred by Celebrity - I.e you bet identical amounts on red and black or/and odds n evens and just hope The zeros don't come in.

I believe you can designate its use for extra gratuities. Just get an envelope and put a note in it and hand it to the crew member you are tipping.

We tried to do this on a our Bermuda cruise in June. We were told you cannot designate the OBC to a particular staff member, it goes into a pool to be shared by all staff. We decided to give cash to our cabin and wait staff.

But it was people that cashed in their OBC in the casino that prompted Celebrity to make this change.

They do, however, give you a printout of you N-OBC (non-refundable ... which has to be used onboard as the title indicates) and R-OBC (refundable ... most likely provided by your TA). Your non-refundable OBC will be used first and refundable OBC will go back to your credit card if not used in its entirety. I have read that some have had luck getting it in cash at the passenger services desk.

Odds are still in Celebrity's favor here. Or anywhere in the casino, for that matter. Green on double zero roulette will come out over the course of time at over 5%. I'm sure Celebrity is saving money on people using their OBC in the casino, or else they wouldn't allow it.

What do they do for Texas holdem tournaments. My husband usually goes to the cashier to get cash which is deposited into the table machine..will they still allow you to take out cash for tournaments.

Aware that there is a risk of loss (1 in 37, or 2 n 37 depending on whether it's 1 zero or 2) I believe on land some countries ban the placing of bets like this to stop the laundering of proceeds of crime. I wondered if Celebrity did the same. If not, statistically it seems the best way to get your cash out

I did not know that. Makes sense, though. However, I think with the small amounts of money we are talking about on cruise ships (several hundred dollars at best), I'm sure it's not a big concern. And FYI, was on the Summit in April, and they had taken out the single zero roulette table. They never miss an angle.

Easy to work around that. You bet on one color and your traveling companion bets on the other.

And pray it does land in green.

Last cruise I bet $300 OBC ($5 a hand) on video poker. After betting $300 I cashed out. I actually ended up with more than the $300 OBC, but obviously that is not a sure bet.

Maybe next time I will try Blackjack, but I am a little unclear if they use special chips and it they replace the initial special chip with a regular chip on a push or when you win. If they do not, Video Poker is a better option IMO.

For blackjack, you can use OBC and will be given promotional chips (no fee for promo chips). These promo chips are only 'taken away' when you lose a bet. Thus, when you win you get paid with 'real money' chips which can be cashed in and your promo chips live on for another day lol. With a push you would also keep the promo chips. Once you have lost the promo chips its business as usual and you can color up or continue playing with your now redeemable chips.

We used our credit in the casino last year. We did play blackjack. Cashier gives you promo chips which you play. If you lose they take the promo chips. If you win, they pay in standard chips and leave the promo chips. At some point you have to give the promo chips back as a loss but the fact is you will never win every hand.

We have a combined $450 on this sailing and plan pon using that for towards our casino budget. The only question will be$150 of the credit is assigned to our son who is 15 in another room. Not sure if they will allow us to use it in the casino. May need our nephew who is in the same room access that credit for us.
