I mean, you are a tourist, surrounded by 5 or 6,000 other tourists at any given moment, in the middle of the ocean, or on a small island that caters to tourists. Who actually cares?

 

Also lanyard or not, I think people will know you're a tourist.....

Will they punch a hole in your Seapass if you bring your own lanyard? We're bringing my GD and I'd like to get her a Vera Bradley one that matches her bags.

 

I've heard hole punching the RFID Cards (like the ones Harmony uses) could make them not work if you don't do it in the correct spot.I'll be bring one of these:

You can attach them to any lanyard, and since you never have to swipe your card anyway, you won't ever have to take it out of the lanyard.

Banks, radio stations, realtor, etc. often give out those cell phone ID holders. I got mine from the Federal Reserve bank at no cost.

I feel the same way...what the heck are they thinking dragging those big purses around on the ship??!! I can see a bag to carry stuff to the pool...but a big purse at all times? ;p To each their own I guess.

 

Never wore a lanyard...never will. I purposely buy shorts/capris/dress slacks with pockets that will fit my sea pass card. In port, I most often just slip my sea pass card, passport card, charge card and some folding cash in my pocket. Simple. ;)

 

A crewmember once said that he thinks women finally relax and realize they are on a ship when they stop carrying purses big enough for a blender!

Have only been on 95 cruises and have never understood ladies with purses big enough to steal the ham out of the windjammer. There is no cash exchanged (other than casino) so we have our landyards on and they will fit inside our formalware or other clothing and we can go swiming or whatever.

 

 

 

I carry a bag with reading and sun glasses. Frequently I have my husband's sun glasses and sun screen.

No problem. I don't want to sound like a salesman but if you don't already have one, we use the waterproof pouches if we head to the pool or the sandy beaches to protect our phones. They work great... Plus it comes with a LANYARD ;p . I can still use my phone and take pics even with the phone inside. Although texting is possible, it is a bit more challenging. Then again, it is challenging for me even without the bag ;)

I wore a lanyard on my last cruise, and I found that other cruise passengers often assumed that I was a cruise ship employee and started asking me for directions. After a while, I just started pointing them the right way and smiled to myself. :)

I just use the squiggly thing I get from the casino. I click it on my small cross body purse that I need to have with me all the time because I need my Kleenex with me all the time . Most times I don't have pockets, so this works well for me.

 

This also work for elegant night as I can clip inside my small purse.

I didn't see the need for one on my last cruise but, I can understand why people do use them. My girlfriend's resort wear rarely has pockets and I usually carry what she needs so a lanyard would be good for her and they do seem to be handy.

 

As for not looking like a tourist, I am a 6ft 1in 225lb black guy so I rarely look like a local (when I am in Europe), plus, I almost always have a camera around my neck :D
