Casino Discount explained to me by HAL

I think that it depends more on how much time you spend in the casino as opposed to how much you money you spend. We can make $50.00 last an entire evening......each and every evening. With the casino rate that we get it is a huge incentive to book our cruises with HAL. Looking right now for 2018 and waiting anxiously for 2019 Europe. HAL knows what they are doing!

I spent time in front of machines talking! I talked to the Casino Manager, hostess, bar staff, other people .. I spent more time talking than gambling.

I still am floored that my piddly amount spent on slots earned such a great discount.

I'm definitely going to keep playing!

I find the casino rate is not always the best rate for us. Yes, sometimes they give a fantastic offer!! But most times it is a couple of hundred off. Yet HAL won't let us use the shareholder benefit on a casino rate. And we never get any addition SBC from the travel agent or HAL when we use the casino rate. On our next South America cruise, it was cheaper overall to NOT book the casino rate as we got way more SBC if we didn't use it.

Maybe there needs to some clarification. I get a casino discount on my cruises. Not sure if that is the same thing you are referring to.

I've never had a problem combining my CCL shareholder credit with it yet (I haven't sent the fax yet for the upcoming cruise but my last two cruises had the casino discount applied). The casino discount has averaged for me 20-30% off the price depending on the category that I book.

We are relatively new to cruising but HAL has sent us some Casino offers that

range from 30 - 70% discount.

All the ones we get have alot of restrictions.

Since our second cruise when we were upsold to a NS we are spoiled and will not book any other

cabin.

We would not be able to cruise unless we get the Casino offers.:)

I do get the casino discount on my bookings, but sure would like to see these flyers in my mailbox! After reading everything I can find, there is no definitive way to figure out what casino offers one may get. It's a lot of magic and some luck. Sure is fun to read everyone's experiences and try to figure out what the magic key is.

All our cruises on HAL have all been charters and such casino discounts are not applicable, so I do have to ask how does one get "enrolled"? I have gambled some on every cruise.

I don't know enough about charters but I am guessing they will not count.

If you ever do a regular HAL cruise log in -note the price shown on the website and the price once you have logged. You have to go to choose a cabin. Not too far in a dummy booking ;)

Question, though: were you able to book a specific cabin, or did you have to book guarantee?

And while I'm asking questions: how far in advance of sailing do these offers appear?

Isn't anyone able to answer my questions???

Hey Ruth. I booked a specific room, got my casino discount.... Think they gave me a small amount ( $25/ $50 ) to play with.

OK, thanks. So, the $25/$50 was in addition to the discount on the cabin?

And by $25/$50, do you mean $25 per person, so $50 for a couple? Or are you just not sure which amount?

And the second question??? Do you (or anyone) have an answer for that?

check this posting...

Our last 2 Casino offers were approx. 4 months notice.

We were able to book a specific cabin and on both we chose an SA on the starboard side next to the PS.

The latest offer was restricted to an SC guarantee.

Apologies if I wasn't clear enough. I know that there will not be a discount for a charter cruise but I was wondering how one gets the casino discount on a regular cruise. As I mentioned, I always gamble a bit so does HAL know that and therefore shows any applicable casino discounts if I looked at a cruise on the HAL website? Or do I have to sign up for it?

Interesting information thus far on the casino rates. We gamble a bit every day, but do not qualify for the casino rate (I contacted the casino company and they said we were not big enough players).

What confuses me is how the casino and/or HAL can offer such deals to people who are light to medium gamblers? I am pretty certain that in land based casinos, the comps you can earn generally run from 1-3% of what you put into the machines, so using 2% you would have to run $50,000 through a machine (or table game) to get $1000 discount. Of course, that is not $50,000 in losses, but rather $50,000 "coin-in" (still alot of gambling though).

I do not doubt what people are saying about how much they gamble daily, as my friend gets these deals and he is not a big player.

While your spend on slots is pretty easy to collect, its a lot more difficult on table games. Generally for table games you get rated on how long you play and the amount your betting. If you pay attention, you'll notice the supervisor come around every once in a while and take notice. You may even see them write stuff down. Its really hard to keep track of winnings at the table games. You just can't count the chips someone has, as that may not be a true representation. I know that when I'm winning, chips start to migrate from my stack into my pockets. That way I have a 'stop limit' established. If that all goes, or I just want to stop, its over for the night.

My last two cruises I have gotten the Casino rate that is on the website when log on with my Mariner number. I was also able to use the CCL OBC on the last two cruises. The last cruise was also combinable with the ready set sail offer.

My last cruise was a 24 day Cruise and on the last night I was given a letter from Club 21 that if I booked a cruise with 30 days and sailed within 6 months month I would receive $250.00 in cash at the Casino. I didn't get a cruise booked by the 30 days but I will be sailing before November. I emailed the ocean players club to see if I qualified for any Casino cash. I got an email back and was told I would receive $175.00 but they needed my booking number. I emailed them my booking number and was emailed back that I didn't qualify for the cash because I had the Casino rate on my room that was about 30%. I figure I would ask because the worse thing that could happen is that they would tell me no.

I have never received the flyers in the mail for free cruises or the offers that have been posted here.

Sometimes the Casino offer works and sometimes not.

Most of you seem to be from USA or Canada. I am from the UK, living in Spain.

Does anyone know if Casino discounts ever apply to us in Europe?

I play a lot of BlackJack when on a cruise (and video poker) but have never heard of these discounts until I read about them here recently.

Yes, the discount will show once you log in and select a cruise. It doesn't show until you log in.

I just started qualifying for them. I never got any notice advising me.

Have you gotten anything for the fall yet? We have gotten a few offers in the spring but are waiting for a fall offer before we book. Like you, we are spoiled in the Neptune Suite.

We got a letter in the mail this time at the end of July for fall cruises.Sept-Dec Caribbean,Atlantic Coast and Circle Hawaii.

As we had just booked a Vegas trip for October we went with the November 4th NA 7 day Tropical Caribbean.

This is our experience as well. The only "notice" was on the confirmation attachment that indicated casino discount had been applied. The HAL rep said it showed on file that we started qualifying for discount as of March 2017. When I think back to that cruise, there was a man with a clipboard taking notes all the time. I asked HAL how long the discount would apply and she had no answer.

We've had the casino rate for quite some time. We recently spent 14 nights on Kdam and gambled each night. We received a 30% discount on that cruise. When we got home and started to look at cruises for 2018, the casino rate had disappeared! We thought that perhaps we hadn't spent enough time/money in the casino and had lost the discount. Two weeks later we checked again and there it was! 30% discount, just as before. You must log in with your mariner number to see the difference in price. We're now looking into 2019 and so far the discount is showing for the few cruises that are being offered. I think the discount stays with you as long as you use the casino.
