butterfly529 Posted September 25, 2017 #105 Share Posted September 25, 2017 God, I must be a terrible cruiser. I am aboard ship to enjoy my vacation not to count the rust spots. Unless something really jumps out at me I really don't notice. I second that..... as one poster stated, apparently the Sky cruise ship they keep mentioning just came out of dry dock. EOS is due hers later this year. When a ship is that old, I'm sure even after a dry dock, she probably rusts a lot faster than a newer ship. Guess if it was "disgusting" to you, sail elsewhere.... parrotfeathers Posted October 7, 2017 #106 Share Posted October 7, 2017 Despite some rain, had a great cruise on Enchantment this week. The crew was amazing. I swear one guy on deck 8 was vacuuming the common areas 24 hours a day (seemingly). Never saw a frown from any crew member, even when Coco was cancelled. That is not Saran Wrap, that is a fiberglass temporary pipe repair tape. Commonly used on piping that is non-critical or non-pressurized until the piping can be repaired. That piping is very thin walled, since it is a gravity drain. Just like the larger pipe above it, there is a "swelling" where the fittings (elbows) attach, that pipe is simply pushed together, with a rubber o-ring in that "swelling" to seal. LP1702 Posted October 8, 2017 #108 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Just returned (Sept. 29th). Older ship, dated, but comfortable decor, the whole ship was CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN....and the crew was FABULOUS, all of them, every single one we had contact with!!! Great memories, and we couldn't have been happier with our cruising experience. I noticed some rust around the anchor, and EOS wasn't as impressive parked next to the others in the ports, but seriously, it was a wonderful cruise, the seas were like a sheet of glass. garnetpalmetto Posted October 8, 2017 #109 Share Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) Just returned (Sept. If we were on the same cruise (Sept 25-29th going to Nassau, CocoCay, and Freeport), I wish I could say the same thing. While most my wife and I interacted with were solid and really went the extra mile (our stateroom attendant, Mona, our MDR waiter, Dimitryo, and Mario in Chops especially) there was a bad apple who really left a bad taste in our mouths - a bartender at R Bar who flat out lied to us and said the bar was closed and wouldn't reopen until 4:00 PM - this was about 2:15 PM. When we went back through the Centrum about 30 minutes later, we noticed R Bar was open and darned if you know it, the bar was open and drinks were being served. In terms of material condition, the ship could definitely use some yard time. The carpet in our stateroom was starting to pull away in a couple places, there was some rust in our balcony, and our balcony door didn't quite function right (essentially a hook was bolted into the wall to keep the door closed - the handle itself didn't work properly and there were instructions on the door that didn't apply and there was no locking mechanism on it aside from that hook. We noticed some Wayfinders didn't work properly and some of the elevator buttons weren't the most responsive, especially on the aft elevator bank. It's definitely an older ship and could use some TLC but overall she's in good shape. Edited October 8, 2017 by garnetpalmetto
handbellplayer Posted October 8, 2017 #110 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Maybe we can find enough people in PC area to buy her and bring her back to where she belongs Sent from my iPhone using Forums THIS ^^^^ I promise - if we could get her back to PC, I would never complain about rust!!!! SECdawg Posted October 8, 2017 #111 Share Posted October 8, 2017 We would gladly take her back in Port Canaveral. I am sure we could get together a paint party if needed. :DShe will always be one of my favorite ships.

Maybe he was confused about the hours. Our balcony door worked correctly, and the locking mechanism locked and sealed the door drum tight. We ate in the MDR the first night, and at Chops the three remaining nights. Lloyd was our waiter, and his service was impeccable. Saby in Schooner's Bar, and Christian at the pool bar were our favorites too. Just had a fabulous time with them!! Saby even made Seahorses for my drink from the straw wrapper. Our stateroom attendant was great too. Very quiet, but he did a fabulous job, and we had a whole family of cute animals by the end of the trip. I'd definitely sail again on The Enchantment, especially with that crew! ...for what it's worth, I saw someone from maintenance painting on deck 6, Thurs. I believe. Palmetto Pilot Posted October 8, 2017 #115 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Salt water rusts, that's just the way it is. That's why sailors paint all the time. They just paint, and paint, and paint.

Is it possible that was just prior to the lifeboat drill when they close all bars until the conclusion??

No, considering this was Day 4 at Freeport. Sorry, I didn't mean to leave out that fact.
