Key West to Key West?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know? Has anyone been able to sail OUT of Key West and then back to Key West? We are moving to Key West in a month and were thinking it would be very convenient to just board there. Thanks!

Nor would you be able to board there and disembark in a different US port because of laws.

If your trip begins and ends in the same port you do not violate the passengers act but it would involve 2 sailings since no itineraries currently begin in Key West. Not sure any cruise line would be happy with that unless you paid for both sailings. Can't hurt to ask the cruise line of your.choice.

That would be disastrous. There are already enough issues with cruise ships using the military dock, so the only other place to dock would be the main cruise dock. There is no terminal building, no place to park cars for people who drove in, and no means of organizing traffic. Plus, the airport does not serve many destinations, and it flies mostly smaller planes, so it would hard for people to fly in. It would only really be convenient for anyone who lives from Miami down through the Keys. Royal Caribbean, as well as any major line, does not operate cruises from Key West, but a smaller line, with smaller ships, may. Best of luck to you finding one though. :)

This is an interesting thread that makes you think about what is required to create a port terminal. Parking and airport have been mentioned. Think of how difficult it would be to get workers for getting the guests on board. Transportation to get all the food on board that is needed. Fuel for the ship. What else am I missing? Makes you appreciate a nice port for embarking.

TSA

Ships that stop in Key West just left a US port, so having that type of staffing is not needed. Much the same reason the first stop from US ports on the Eastern Caribbean run is St Thomas
