denn1 Posted August 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2017 When you get to southampton and the porters take your luggage and your luggage appears in your cabin later do they take your suit carriers or do you take them with you. As you can see im a clueless first time cruiser
MarkBearSF Posted August 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Not exactly sure what you mean by "suit carriers." (probably a UK/US usage quirk) If it's a zippered piece of luggage which could be checked on an airline, they'll take it. If it's a handheld suit on a hangar in a plastic bag, probably not. - Mark
Lanky Lad Posted August 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2017 The porters are not gentle souls, so I would recommend keeping a suit carrier with you if you can. Otherwise your suit might need pressing before you can wear it.
robbie_3 Posted August 31, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I also keep hold of my suit carrier for the same reason as Lanky Lad says. I have seen some passengers hand them over to the porters but I'm not convinced my suits would fair as well as the rest of our luggage
Underwatr Posted September 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2017 One of these can be checked without worry: You should carry one of these on with you:
Rare rafinmd Posted September 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2017 My recollection (correct me if I'm wrong) is that rooms on Cunard are available immediately on boarding. I would definitely carry the bottom item in the photo with me and quickly drop it in my room. Roy

Camgirl Posted September 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 1, 2017 We always send my husband's suit carrier with the cases at both ends. It is just a simple carrier like the bottom one above but that folds in half and has clips at the sides. Never been a problem in the last 14 cruises. majortom10 Posted September 1, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Both P&O & Cunard recommend in their excursions brochure that you receive that suit carriers are carried onboard as hand luggage and not given to the porters.

Indygo Posted September 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 3, 2017 If you have a medium sized piece of luggage, can you just roll it in with you or do you have to check it?
Host Hattie Posted September 3, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 3, 2017 As long as you can carry it and it will fit through the scanner, you can take it on yourself.
