Caribbean Princess -

We are booked on the January 13th sailing on the Caribbean princess. With all the issues and changes in the schedule, the sailing is almost sold out. Only interior an oceanview cabins left. Is it possible we might get a move over offer for this sailing ? If so, when would it come ? December sometime ? - Just wondering, as this is a sailing that we could take advantage of that type of offer.

We are also on that cruise.

It is possible that Princess will make moveover offers, if the ship is overbooked. With all the problems with the ship and therefore the itinerary, there may be more cancelations than usual for the cruise. That would work against the need for freeing up cabins.

Hello Denmal,

Help me out here. How does "...all of the issues and changes in the schedule" play into an over booking situation? Are you referring to an upgrade offer from folks canceling their reservations?

Not sure it will..but it does look like it will be a full cruise. So I was just thinking we might get an offer

Your right about the cancellations. My friends from Scotland just did. They were booked for a B2B cruise and Princess cancelled 3 ports when it was going to the Panama Canal. So they cancelled. They booked a 23 day cruise with a different cruise line. :(

A move-over offer is only made if Princess has overbooked the category with GTYs and higher category cabins are also not available to fill a GTY booking.

It is relatively rare for this to occur as sophisticated software based on historical data will limit the number of GTYs to what the expected number of cancellations will be so that the GTYs can be filled. Most of the time the this works and no move-over offer needs to be made. Now and then the historical number of cancellations do not occur and move-over offers come into play.

It does not matter how booked up the ship is now as what matters is how many GTYs still need to be filled close in to the embarkation date.

If a move-over (or move-down offer) is made, you cannot volunteer for it. Princess would need to decide who should get the offer. And if an offer is made, it will likely be made to several other booked passengers at the same time with the first one to respond they will take the offer will get it and the others contacted will not.

So, to sum up the chances of getting a move-over offer are slim, but it could, possibly, might happen. Just know that if the offer comes, it will be very close to embarkation date.
