GrammySpo Posted September 10, 2017 #76 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Your photos are wonderful and enjoyed your "story, not story" of your canoe trip. What I see are so many places I still need to see! Sent from my iPad using Forums

FishinChris Posted September 11, 2017 Author #78 Share Posted September 11, 2017 In South Queenferry we had another tour with Photo Walk Scotland. http://www.photowalkscotland.com/ Since Edinburgh was going to be really crowded with the Fringe Festival and cruise ship passengers, we decided to go elsewhere. First stop was Falkirk to see the Kelpies. http://www.thehelix.co.uk/things-to-do/the-kelpies/ The Kelpies are 30 meter tall horse sculptures that are absolutely fabulous. FishinChris Posted September 11, 2017 Author #79 Share Posted September 11, 2017 From Falkirk we then went to Glasgow for a city tour with Tom from Photo Walk Scotland. First stop was Glasgow City Hall. British Isle 2017-188.jpg Keeping the streets clean one provocateur at a time. British Isle 2017-166-Edit.jpg Glasgow has some amazing street art. This guy looks like he may be lunch for the panda. British Isle 2017-240-Edit.jpg British Isle 2017-275.jpg British Isle 2017-289.jpg
FishinChris Posted September 11, 2017 Author #80 Share Posted September 11, 2017 Next we went to the Lighthouse. http://www.thelighthouse.co.uk/ It really was worth it to have a guide that know the city so well. We were able to breeze through areas and see things we would have never found on our own. Spiral staircase British Isle 2017-087.jpg I think we’re being watched. British Isle 2017-272.jpg We made good use of the Glasgow subway system better know as Clockwork Orange. It enabled us to cover a lot more ground efficiently. After a bite to eat we headed to Glasgow University. Its a beautiful campus and the location of this next picture was featured in the Outlander premier tonight. Although it was supposed to be Harvard in TV land, we know where it was really filmed. untitled shoot-1515-Edit.jpg The Kelvingrove Museum was huge. We could have spent all day in here. http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/kelvingrove/Pages/default.aspx British Isle 2017-377-Edit.jpg Thank you, thank you very much! British Isle 2017-092.jpg We can’t thank Tom enough for giving us the full Scotland experience in Glasgow as well as the Highland tour. These were the best tours we had ever taken on any vacation ever! Look up Photo Walk Scotland, they really took care of us.

nini Posted September 11, 2017 #83 Share Posted September 11, 2017 Thank you so much! I love your photo style; I have always had a soft spot for B&W. You have inspired me with my new camera and to book a British Isles cruise! Unfortunately, we will need to go in 2019 and those are not posted yet. Cruisen Elf Posted September 11, 2017 #84 Share Posted September 11, 2017 Princess should pay you a commission for all the British Isle cruises that are going to be booked as a result of your review! The photos are beautiful and all the information is so helpful. Thanks for sharing!
FishinChris Posted September 12, 2017 Author #85 Share Posted September 12, 2017 These are stunning photos! Do you mind sharing what lenses you used with the Canon 7D? I mostly used the 10-22mm wide angle. But I also used a 24mm prime, 50mm prime, and 100-400L Telephoto. I believe if you click on my pictures it will take you to the Flicker website that is hosting them and from there you can find which lens I used for each picture. Thanks for the kind words. FishinChris Posted September 12, 2017 Author #88 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Our final port was Le Havre. We booked a private tour with France Custom Tours. http://www.francecustomtours.com/ Our group totaled 6 which made it easy to get around. We were in the first group off the ship and our guide John was waiting for us. First stop was Bayeux to see the tapestry. http://www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/la_tapisserie_de_bayeux_en.html I know the tapestry sounds boring but it is quite a piece of history and the highlight of our day. British Isle 2017-606.jpg British Isle 2017-095.jpg Afterwords we stopped at the Bayeux Notre Dame Cathedral. British Isle 2017-627.jpg You could take pictures inside the cathedral. FishinChris Posted September 12, 2017 Author #89 Share Posted September 12, 2017 We stopped for lunch at a creperie which had a nice garden. British Isle 2017-680.jpg We also stopped for cider/calvados. Very tasty! British Isle 2017-703-Edit.jpg Our last stop was Honfleur. We were able to walk around on our own for about 90 minutes before heading back to the ship. There are lots of little shops here, you could wander around most the day here. British Isle 2017-751.jpg British Isle 2017-739.jpg Last picture is at Heathrow waiting to board our flight back to San Fransisco. We were pretty exhausted from our vacation and loved every minute of it. If you have never been to the UK before make sure you spend a few days in London seeing the sites. Take lots of pictures and make sure to share them. Thank you for reading my review, I hope you enjoyed it. British Isle 2017-100.jpg
GrammySpo Posted September 12, 2017 #90 Share Posted September 12, 2017 It was the British Isle cruise with the Dublin overnight. Thanks for your kind comments. We also did this cruise but we did not have an overnight in Dublin but stopped in Liverpool instead. I'm soooo glad we were able to stop there and experience the Beatles experience. PonyPair Posted September 13, 2017 #96 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Is it safe to assume that this price was per person and one way? Hi Thrak, I'm FishinChris's other half. The flights were $749 Per person, round trip, non stop on British Airways. We just booked flights SFO to Heathrow for mid July 2018 for $824 pp, rt, ns, on British Airways and Delta. We used Princess Air for all flights. The flights are flexible, so can be cancelled if I find a better price. smm0218 Posted September 13, 2017 #97 Share Posted September 13, 2017 I was just looking at flights for June to Heathrow from Omaha. About $400 more per person and we are 1700 miles closer to Heathrow than you are. I must be doing something wrong.

PonyPair Posted September 14, 2017 #99 Share Posted September 14, 2017 PonyPair- It is flexible through Princess Air? Sounds like it was a good deal for us West Coasters. Thx Yes. I looked at the prices on the airline sites and they were much higher than with Princess Air. We have had really good experiences and have found good prices with Princess Air, I don't know if we that is usual. The first time we used it we had awful weather on a short cruise, and were very late into our disembarkation port. We were able to stay relaxed and keep enjoying our cruise while others were madly trying to rebook flights using the very slow ship's internet. Our flights were rearranged by Princess and new tickets were sent to our room. I was so pleased with that experience that we have used it whenever possible. There may be better prices available with other discount flight services, but I am not an extreme bargain hunter, but balance convenience with price. All our flights have been in Economy, so I don't know about pricing for the other classes. Sent from my iPad using Forums
