lstone19 Posted September 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2017 For those who have sailed out of the Brooklyn Port a quick question. Does the ship leave southward toward St. George Terminal leaving the area? Not sure what you're really asking. Are you asking if they go out through the Narrows and under the Verrazano Bridge as opposed to up the East River and Long Island Sound? They go out the Narrows. I think they would have extreme clearance issues with the East River. St. George Terminal is an odd landmark to use for a question as most people here will have no idea what it is. mllewis48 Posted September 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2017 For those who have sailed out of the Brooklyn Port a quick question. Does the ship leave southward toward St. George Terminal leaving the area? If you mean the Staten Island St George yes it does. Governors Island on the Starboard side then she turns out toward the VN bridge passing the Statue of Liberty also on the Starboard side, then under the bridge. wheezedr Posted September 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2017 thanks for the quick response. just wanted to make sure that we were on the right side to see the Statue of Liberty as we pass from our balcony. Would suggest better viewing of the entire sail away from the deck.

Homosassa Posted September 4, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Both times I've sailed under the Verrazano Bridge. Yes, that is the only way out. There are too many bridges that modern ships would not fit under to go out to the Long Island Sound.
