Upcharge items in the Main Dining Room?

Does the menu in the Main Dining Room still have items that are only available for a charge?

Yep. I believe they began doing this in 2015 on select items. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, those were offered on our Jan cruise on the Jade. It was primarily beef and seafood dishes. I don't care for seafood and there was also usually a beef dish on the free side so personally wasn't tempted. They are well marked so don't need to worry about accidentally ordering something that involves and extra charge.

Actually, it seems to depend.

 

There haven't been upcharge items available in the MDR on either of my last two cruises (Spirit and Jade).

 

I'm not sure whether the menus are changing, or whether there is a specific set of menus for Europe, but it's difficult to say for sure what you will get.

They were on the Epic menus out of PC. No clue why someone would want to pay $24.99 for surf & turf when the free food was so awesome. The swordfish was perfect and the veal oscar, well no words to describe it.

 

Hands down the Epic's food beat Carnival Sunshines food that we had on our cruise the week after the Epic.

We were on the Breakaway in June and the Sky last week. There were NOT any upcharge items on the MDR menus.
