keiko618 Posted September 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2017 My sister is on the ship and engines have stopped and they do not have power. Captain has verified the same. They are coming back from Alaska and due to dock tomorrow morning in Long Beach. She was able to send out email using the services available now. keiko618 Posted September 15, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Captain says they have limited generator power, not AC, no elevators, etc. They are 65 miles off coast of San Francisco.

keiko618 Posted September 15, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Updated. She says the Captain reports unknown reason why they lost power. They are working on it and some essential services were getting generator power. They are back underway now but going slow.

sanmarcosman Posted September 16, 2017 #19 Share Posted September 16, 2017 All of the Stewarts are pitching in now, shoveling coal down in the bowls of the ship. I'd rather the Steward give the toilet bowl in my cabin an extra swipe or two with their cleaning brush.

chengkp75 Posted September 16, 2017 #21 Share Posted September 16, 2017 Latest update is all seems well other than hot tap water is staining towels and not looking clean. Whenever the water has been turned off for a while, the chlorine and carbonate scale that naturally forms on the inside of the water pipes dries out and breaks off. It is then circulated around the ship, and tends to collect in the static legs going to each cabin's sink and shower. Running the water for a minute or so generally clears this up. It looks bad, and it doesn't lend itself to drinking (though it is safe).
