spleenstomper Posted September 23, 2017 #453 Share Posted September 23, 2017 It is a shame the media isn't covering this more. Lack of fresh water on the island because of no electricity is severe. Flamencacha Posted September 23, 2017 #456 Share Posted September 23, 2017 It is a shame the media isn't covering this more. Lack of fresh water on the island because of no electricity is severe. Basic human living conditions can't be met. When the island prepared for IRMA most stocked up on necessities. However, when most of the island was spared, these same people donated their supplies, to the other islands, only to have to restock again. A group of pilots were flying their own airplanes to deliver in the much needed areas they called themselves the Caribbean Flyers. Also boat owners and charter companies joined in. They stepped up to the plate, hopefully the US is stepping up as compassionately as they did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

S.S.Oceanlover Posted September 24, 2017 #466 Share Posted September 24, 2017 I still dont see this Wednesday sailing happening at all. If it does the ship will probably be about at about 20% capacity. Bill

Bill You will get locals that are already booked to get a short break. That's if they know about the changes. With limited internet, limited phones, and no power, they will be hard pressed. cosmo1027 Posted September 24, 2017 #469 Share Posted September 24, 2017 I can't see how anyone would be able to fly to Puerto Rico for a Wednesday departure of Adventure. Given that, it seems RCI should be doing something more for those booked on this sailing. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/09/23/553208715/frustrations-mount-at-miami-airport-as-passengers-to-puerto-rico-wait-and-worry?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20170923
Ocean Boy Posted September 24, 2017 #470 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Back in post #464 it say this..... If you have a trip scheduled for this upcoming week, we recommend you call your hotel or travel agent directly and consider alternative plans. Now why would RCI provide any incentive for people to try to make their way to Puerto Rico? If they want to provide a cruise for locals who are booked and want to get away then fine. But they should simply say right now that for anyone who can't make their way to the ship they will get a refund. They pulled this same stuff in Galveston not cancelling the first cruise post hurricane until they day of departure. All they do is stress people out with uncertainty and seem to have no regard for local communities that don't need the added burden of tourists showing up right now. This isn't their first, second, or even third time to this rodeo. There is no electricity in Puerto Rico, hotels are closed, the airport is apparently semi-operational..... get it RCI? They want people to cancel and file a claim with their travel insurance company (destination uninhabitable). That way it is the insurance companies out of money and not RCI. It is quite he unsavory decision on RCI's part. They will likely eventually cancel, but by then most people will have either taken the initial Cruise Credit or filed an insurance claim reducing their (RCI) overall out of pocket. JandRtravel Posted September 24, 2017 #472 Share Posted September 24, 2017 I have 5 family members stranded in PR right now. They were down for job assignment prior to Irma. They were evacuated to a hotel and that hotel has a curfew in place from 6p-6a. They are not allowed to leave during that time. Water is rationed, food is rationed. All of the stores within walking distance are wiped out. Gas is extremely low, there are lines of 200+ cars. The flights keep getting cancelled. They are tentatively scheduled to fly out Tuesday 9/26 (via Delta) there are flights coming in and out but ONLY for humanitarian relief. Things are getting escalated, and people are starting to panic about lack of supplies. They’re hotel is barricaded due to this rising panic, so they can only leave through one door. Cell service is in an out. It’s a mess. I wouldn’t count on any cruises running “business as usual” for at least another 2 weeks Sent from my iPhone using Forums

madeth313 Posted September 24, 2017 #474 Share Posted September 24, 2017 I am on the Adventure Sept 30th cruise. IF they offer a FCC and I accept and then later they cancel the cruise, if I have accepted the FCC does that mean I can't switch to the full refund offer? I am just trying to figure out my options.
