2Shoes2Go Posted September 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2017 Doesn't matter much. There are, however, a couple we avoid. Not naming names, but can help us choose between cruises we're considering.
crooooze Posted September 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2017 No. I couldn't care less.
coevan Posted October 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2017 The only memorable cruise director was John Heald on the Elation in 1999. We had Schwartz for 14 days on the Magic as a sub for Dr.E. We had the pleasure to talk to him for a 1/2 hour or so. We got an interesting incite into their cruising life. Other than those 2 couldn't remember any others
Boozebabe Posted October 1, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2017 In 20 cruises I couldn't begin to tell you the name of one of them.
Stefanosthecruiselover Posted October 1, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2017 Those answers are in two different extremes. Yes, I do care who the cruise director is, but I don't book cruises based on who it will be.
timeinthesand Posted October 1, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2017 I surely don't book my cruises based on who the cruise director is but I absolutely look forward to cruising with some Cruise directors more than others. I know some like to do their own things and not get involved in the activities but a good Cruise director makes the shows fun, the deck parties fun, the trivia contest fun, among other things. GUT2407 Posted October 1, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 1, 2017 I often wonder why they have one, surely head office could just set a roster of who does what when for each cruise.
galfromkazoo Posted October 1, 2017 #13 Share Posted October 1, 2017 I don't care. Probably could not remember who it was by the time I get home. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
coevan Posted October 1, 2017 #14 Share Posted October 1, 2017 I often wonder why they have one, surely head office could just set a roster of who does what when for each cruise. I think he is the boss of the entertainment crew as well.
evandbob Posted October 1, 2017 #15 Share Posted October 1, 2017 Since Carnival CD's seem to be the loudest and most long winded shills and barkers of the 6 cruise lines I've sailed on, my vote is only for the one who has laryngitis.

dverzic Posted October 1, 2017 #17 Share Posted October 1, 2017 We had Adam on our last cruise on the Miracle. He was really fun, but then, every cruise director I've ever had was fun! So I don't really care who I get, and I never base my cruise booking on who was the CD. Sent from my iPad using Forums
SMSACE6 Posted October 1, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 1, 2017 no. cd is the last thing I would consider when choosing a cruise to book. I choose my cruises, by ship choice, price, itinerary and more. But that said. I do find that some CD's are better than others, and appreciate the better ones. cruizinisthebest Posted October 1, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 1, 2017 Didn't vote, because the choice is one extreme or the other. And there's alot in between. Yes I do care who the cruise director is now that I've sailed with a couple of superb ones. I would follow them on any ship they sailed, but then I would be giving up too much of everything else I consider when booking cruises. So therefore I don't. A cruise director that can host a good party and is friendly and engaged makes a cruise for me much more enjoyable. That said - the cost, destination, and time of year will always be my primary deciding factors.

Kevin7kodak7 Posted October 1, 2017 #21 Share Posted October 1, 2017 You never get a bad one. Just some are better than others. A CD is a pinacal position. On CCL Splendor had a great one, Malcolm Woot, Woot. Can't even remember the names of the other's, LOL. beachbum6264 Posted October 1, 2017 #22 Share Posted October 1, 2017 I could not name a single one from any of the 18 cruises I've been on. Don't think I could pick any out of a line-up either. So I'm pretty sure you can guess how I voted.
Micahs Grandad Posted October 1, 2017 #23 Share Posted October 1, 2017 When we book a cruise it is a consideration but not a very important one. However if it came down to say Mike Pack or a long winded one would vote for Mike.
rifky Posted October 1, 2017 #24 Share Posted October 1, 2017 no. cd is the last thing I would consider when choosing a cruise to book. I choose my cruises, by ship choice, price, itinerary and more. But that said. I do find that some CD's are better than others, and appreciate the better ones. Ditto. But cd's are very important, don't think a cruise would b any fun w/o one. Ask4Jay Posted October 1, 2017 #25 Share Posted October 1, 2017 No, we don’t care one bit. To us they are just an annoyance with their phony cheerfulness, breathlessly telling us how wonderful this cruise is going to be, how we must not miss this or that activity. One of the first things we do, once we are in our cabin, is turn the PA system off or down as low as possible. Their sales pitches are intrusive and irritating.
