NMLady Posted October 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2017 First time not in a suite since we became Platinum, what if anything can we expect the concierge do for us?Thanks in advance. Nothing, really. Even though Concierge services is listed as a Platinum perk that doesn't often happen. You might be able to get help with dinner reservations in Specialty restaurant but don't count on it.
TrumpyNor Posted October 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2017 First time not in a suite since we became Platinum, what if anything can we expect the concierge do for us?Thanks in advance. We have on several occasions through our Platinum (now Platinum Plus) status, used the concierge service to book tables for us at specialty restaurants. Especially on nights where the restaurant hostess told us in advance that it was full and no tables left (and the iConcierge app told us pretty much the same thing), the concierge always somehow managed to get us a table on or near the time we wanted. Other than that, the concierge service for Platinum (or Platinum Plus) guests who are not in a suite or got a VIP status on board for one reason or another, is pretty much absent.... Love my butler Posted October 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2017 First time not in a suite since we became Platinum, what if anything can we expect the concierge do for us? Unless you are in a suite or somehow designated VIP status, expect the concierge to ignore you. The concierge has their hands full keeping up with the VIP guests to have very little/no time to deal with plats.

newmexicoNita Posted October 30, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2017 First time not in a suite since we became Platinum, what if anything can we expect the concierge do for us?Thanks in advance. other than early debarkation we haven't used the him/her for much of anything. If you want to ask about helping you book reservations for dining, that works. Basically we see not reason to use ours.
Rare BostonGal35 Posted October 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2017 this is a right as a platinum member. the first time we tried to exercise our right, we got significant push back to even get the concierge number. we had to speak to multiple people and finally the cruise next manager gave us the info. know your rights and be persistent. For me, not worth the time and energy. For some things I'll stand my ground and argue, but being able to use the concierge as a Platinum member is not one of them. The perk doesn't include anything except help with reservations. To me, not worth arguing.
1smudslide Posted October 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2017 I was platinum, for the first time, last week on my cruise. I had no clue how to get the priority disembarkation. We always do easy walk off, but the line is huge. Is there a way to get through the line?

Just because you have platinum (I am too) access does not mean you are entitled to all the perks of a suite customer that is handled by the concierge. We always do easy walk off, but the line is huge. Is there a way to get through the line? The Platinum perk of priority disembarkation just means that you can get in line to get off the ship at any time, you don't need to wait for a certain color tag to be called. To get escorted by the concierge to the front of the line, is a suite perk and not a Platinum perk.

But I also wouldn't fault those Platinum members who would like to USE this perk because concierge help is clearly stated on the list of Platinum Latitude level benefits. NCL should either remove this from the Platinum perks OR inform concierge staff that they are obligated to help Platinum members with their requests, busy or not. As of now it IS part of their responsibilities which they do not fulfill. Offering this perk is misleading on NCL part.
AlexandNessa Posted October 31, 2017 #15 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Honestly, they need a separate phone concierge for platinum and above. No way can the concierge and his assistant handle the suites AND all the platinum, platinum +s. It's not possible. But if that's what Norwegian advertises, they are obligated to make that perk available to their guests and not just on an "as available basis" as many have reported. If it's on an "as available basis," it should be advertised as such. Staff an extra Cruise Next person for phone concierge service and be done with it. Or remove it as a perk. Because right now it doesn't work as advertised. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Forums mobile app
fourofakind Posted October 31, 2017 #16 Share Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) Priority disembarkation is done separately even for walk offs. I have it because of my Sapphire CAS status and platinum gets it too (I am also platinum). I only know the Breakaway well not the other large ships but on the Breakaway you head to the Manhattan dining room where you will find priority walk off. It is roped off and you need to show your card in order to be given this access. You will walk right off the ship with no wait while the line for regular walk off is long. Hope that helps someone and happy cruising :) Edited October 31, 2017 by fourofakind

I just went straight to the CruiseNext desk and asked. The guy wrote down the names and numbers of the concierge on a piece of paper for me. Markanddonna Posted December 13, 2017 #18 Share Posted December 13, 2017 The only time I used the concierge as a Platinum/non-suite guest was for priority tendering. I was told to meet in the same location as the suite guests and the concierge walked us all off.

Yes, I (me DW said it was wasted time) went to the Guest Services Desk and asked for the name and number of our Platinum Concierge to help with a mix-up involving dinner reservations... and was sent to the CruiseNext desk. First thing they ask is; What cruise can we sell you?;p After 10 minutes of waiting, the rep came back (from the back room where he was hiding) with the concierge's name and number. When I called the number, the first thing THEY asked was; What is your cabin number? Then, told me the concierge was busy with Havens, and if I wanted something, just go to the Guest Services Desk. :) I had fun with the experience, however, as my DW and others have said; Sorry, but don't waste your time. DMH15 Posted December 13, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 13, 2017 I can see a somewhat easy solution for this dilemna. When I cruised Carnival I was not in a suite. I just could not see the value in it. But I jumped all over their "Faster to the Fun". One of the perks associated with that was a "special line at guest services". Basically, walking up to that line placed anyone in that line in front of the general line. As a platinum member and suite passenger on NCL I was surprised there was nothing like this on NCL. I know some people out there are grumbling at the class structure but this is reality. You either pay for perks (suite) or earn them (loyalty). This would cost NCL virtually $0 and it could differentiate those who have status as an amenity. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
OnTheGoMom921 Posted December 13, 2017 #22 Share Posted December 13, 2017 As Platinum members, We used the Concierge's services on the Gem in Sept. She was able to adjust our reservation times for our specialty dining to meet our needs. Although, we had to play phone tag with her a bit. We also checked in at NYC port on separate Platinum line, were given boarding card #1 and were seated in a separate Platinum waiting area (but not the suite waiting area). We were also able to disembark using our platinum status, by meeting at the theater (platinum and suite guests) and we had a separate exit to walk off. Although, once on the pier, we had the same long lines to get through customs as everyone else.

The way it is right now is very shady and just makes people who obviously cruise with NCL a lot (hence Platinum level) quite angry. I know I am. DMH15 Posted December 13, 2017 #25 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Ok, I have an honest question for Platinum and above who are non-suite. Do you? And/or how may do you think/tip the concierge? If you think the tips are NOT forthcoming perhaps the concierge is not as motivated as they might be. I know when I am at a hotel and I receive an individual service I immediately tip them, and do so per occurance. On NCL, I tip the concierge at the end. I see them all week, by virtue of being in the haven and in the haven restaurant. Platinums and above might not see the concierge again unless they sought them out.
