UKCruiseJeff Posted July 31, 2018 #4926 Share Posted July 31, 2018 There was a bit of a kerfuffle about this a week or so back in that the person who was publishing the programme for the single shot plastic 3d printer specs also wished to publish the data files for printing other lethal weaponry and my understanding was that it was felt that the US freedom of speech and free expression laws would be contravened if he was not allowed to publish anything as he wanted. If anyone knows different then hopefully they will correct me.
Rare Tothesunset Posted July 31, 2018 #4927 Share Posted July 31, 2018 I think the real issue is that the plastic guns are undetectable (think: airport security) and untraceable. http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/downloadable-guns-3d-printer-cody-wilson-august-1-1.4764082 I suppose so. But wouldn't the round or rounds be detectable?

Rare jpalbny Posted July 31, 2018 #4934 Share Posted July 31, 2018 Nice work, Jeff! Good pile of empties. Makes me yearn for the Tasmanian oysters we had on my big birthday trip. They were outstanding! Last night was a simple piece of seared tuna steak, nice and pink on the inside, over jasmine rice with slices of avocado. Which reminds me - what's more dangerous to your hands? Avocados, or oysters? And should there be an e in the plural? Tonight is a work in progress. Will think about it over a glass of wine! Bill B Posted July 31, 2018 #4936 Share Posted July 31, 2018 .. and not a drop of blood when shucking! I didn't know oysters could bleed. ;) Tonight's dinner will be: - ham (and Colman's Mustard powder - hydrated with vinegar instead of water for extra zest); - scalloped potatoes (done with lots of onions, aged cheddar cheese & crispy bacon layered throughout); and, - fresh corn on the cob (with butter & salt). For desert, my home made, oatmeal-raisin cookies and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. :)
UKCruiseJeff Posted July 31, 2018 #4937 Share Posted July 31, 2018 Thanks JP. I’m so pleased I persevered with perfecting shucking. The first time I tried it was tortuous. But is is a nack and once you’ve found your perfect knife and mastered it, it takes no time. It’s a shame so few people try this at home. Oysters and champagne is a marriage made in heaven and not having to travel for the inevitable doze is wonderful. Our oysters are fresh and live for a week or so in the fridge and are delivered by our normal grocery delivery company. I was extremely pleased because I managed to get them for half price .... and then the delivery driver was late and decided to give me a goodwill credit and the oysters ended up being free. It doesn’t get much better than two dozen fresh oysters for free on a lovely sunny quiet lazy day. :)

UKCruiseJeff Posted August 1, 2018 #4943 Share Posted August 1, 2018 Good Morning All! Today's money making offer from Nigeria ... Good day, A desperate search for a reliable and capable partner is what led me to sending you this email. By introduction, my name is Mr. David Gumede. I am the Personal Assistance of Mr Duduzane Zuma the son of South African Ex-President Jacob Zuma. I have a proposal of high benefit I would like to bring to your attention, but because of the confidentiality of this I will only give you the full details via a telephone conversation or via another email which I will send to you after receiving your response. In summary; towards the end of December 2015, Mr Duduzane and his father Jacob Zuma secured a nuclear deal with the Russians. The deal later didn’t go through as some of the South African Presidential cabinet didn’t approve of it, but before this a huge sum has already been transferred into the country through Mr Duduzane’s company (Westdawn Investments). With Jacob Zuma exiting the presidential seat and Mr. Duduzane being on the run because of his involvement with the Guptas, I have been giving the task to seek for a foreign partner or company to assist us in moving this fund out of the Republic so we do not end of up losing everything. More details of this I will provide through a medium suitable to you, either via a phone call or a private email. Hope to get your response. Regards Mr. David Gumede

Rare jpalbny Posted August 1, 2018 #4945 Share Posted August 1, 2018 Happy August, all! Now I can say that "Next month, we are on vacation!" Five weeks from today we will board our flight. I've been following the SPG-Marriott-Ritz merger for some time as it's been interesting from a benefits POV. AMEX Platinum gets us complimentary SPG Gold Elite status. That has translated to Marriott Gold which (pre-merger) has been a really substantial benefit. The "new" Marriott gold post-merger isn't as good, and that is scheduled to start mid-August. This is just in time to affect our stay at the St-Pancras Renaissance in London next month. Was hoping for a guaranteed 4PM checkout (old benefit) but now it's going to be a 2PM checkout "subject to availability" (new benefit). Since our Eurostar train leaves at 4, the former would have been much more desirable. But I am sure that we will manage just fine. :D We booked one of the Junior suites in the Chambers Club so we'll have lounge access and (supposedly) Eurostar VIP transfer service. We'll have to see what that entails - sounds like an escort to the station and a fast-track through security which might be nice. If AMEX gets us into the Eurostar lounge that will be even nicer. Jeff, upon further reading, this seems to be "officially" a benefit only for European AMEX Platinum cardholders, and sometimes it works for others. newlondon Posted August 1, 2018 #4946 Share Posted August 1, 2018 JP, You will love the St. Pancras Renaissance. We stayed 2 years ago before railing it to Edinburgh. Only drawback is location as we are not fond of the tube. No problem, however, as the restaurant is outstanding. If you ask the concierge you can get a personalized transfer, although the Eurostar is easily accessible. We were personally escorted to Kings Cross--across the street, and delivered to the first class wait room. Enjoy
UKCruiseJeff Posted August 1, 2018 #4947 Share Posted August 1, 2018 Hi All, JP, if it is simply show the card, then there seems to be a chance that you might simply be waved through. In Singapore my Plat card seemed to be accepted on Singapore only stuff .. so as they are both the same colour it may just be OK. If not then to be honest I would be very tempted to linger at the champagne bar. I have seen it on so many TV progs I think it would be a really nice place to experience even if you had lounge access. http://stpancrasbysearcys.co.uk/champagne-bar/ Today was kippers, some Gösser Natûrlub with some nice bread. Does anyone else think the one on the right looks like Mick Jagger? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
