Excursions in Hawaii

Since we planned this cruise late, many of the excursions that interested us were full. We booked one excursion in Kona with Roberts, and are on a wait list I Oahu for the USS Arizona and City tour. Are there other opportunities at the pier by private enterprises offering excursions? Otherwise we will just rent a car and explore on our own. Thanks for your help.

Hawaii does not work the same way other places such as the Caribbean do, so don't expect to pick up any tours at the pier. The idea of renting a car is economical and allows you to go where and when you want to on each island. It would be best to have your car rentals arranged before you get here.

Renting a car on Kauai and driving to Waimea Canyon is a great way to spend the day. The canyon is gorgeous, and driving yourself there allows you to spend as much or as little time as you like at the stopping places.

You will see very few excursions available at the pier or tender drop offs.

 

I would also recommend posting on the Hawaii ports of call board.

Kauai? If anything, helicopter tour that focuses on the NaPali coast.

We were very happy to rent a car on both ports where we stayed overnight. Remember you are still in the states with all the same laws so it was nbd and very safe.

Another suggestion ask on your roll call. Sometimes there may be someone who has scheduled a tour and need another couple or two to fill the tour.

You might want to make plans to visit Pearl Harbor on your own. Check out this website (National Park Service) about getting tickets. https://www.nps.gov/valr/planyourvisit/fees.htm
