sunnydaysmile Posted November 15, 2017 #27 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Forgive me if this is already known and posted elsewhere, but I just received an email from RC saying my cruise planned for August 2018 on the Empress is being transferred to the Majesty out of Tampa Anyone know where the Empress is going? I received the same email for our Sept 2018 cruise. I am bummed!!! I loved sailing Empress. I wonder why the change....
bluegirlum Posted November 15, 2017 #28 Share Posted November 15, 2017 I just received an email saying my Empress cruise to Cuba in May is now on Majesty. I love Majesty, so that's fine, but unfortunately with the uncertainty about tours in Cuba, we're going to be canceling this cruise.
finz2u Posted November 15, 2017 #29 Share Posted November 15, 2017 My notice was the change from Empress to Majesty. I am still hopeful that Cuba is still an option as that was the reason I wanted this cruise. Although my DH is resisting Cuba, I was hoping to talk him into it by the summer of 2019. Mikew0805 Posted November 15, 2017 #30 Share Posted November 15, 2017 What??? No no no! I love the Majesty, and the one time I was on the Enchantment... well let's just say I was less than enchanted. Maybe it was just an off week for the crew, (dirty everywhere) or maybe it was the company I was with (boring).
Rare BillOh Posted November 15, 2017 #31 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Enchantment over Majesty is a win in my book. I may have the opportunity to see if I agree. I probably won't make up my mind about changing my Sept cruise till i get back from Jewel.
not-enough-cruising Posted November 15, 2017 #32 Share Posted November 15, 2017 For what it’s worth, my Empress 5 day in February 2018 seems to still be a go. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Waterworld11 Posted November 15, 2017 #33 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Hi: I am not sailing on the Empress until b-b March 2/2019 to March 11/2019, and I received the same e-mail stating that I will now be on the Majesty. No change to port of departure from Ft. Lauderdale. The Empress was my first cruise in 1991, and she seemed so big at the time. Now, she looks like a "little Minnow" compared to the Oasis and Quantum class ships! But, she is a very nice ship. Disappointing indeed! Disappointing indeed! EatonDoolittle Posted November 15, 2017 #34 Share Posted November 15, 2017 For what it’s worth, my Empress 5 day in February 2018 seems to still be a go. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Same with my Empress 5 day to Cuba in Dec. 2018, out of Ft Lauderdale. She is, however, changing homeports, but that was already planned. From Tampa to FLL for a bit, then to Miami permanently, if I recall correctly.. Maybe this recent shuffle has to do with that. I would think it's too soon after the latest anti-Cuba document for them to see mass cancellations on the Cuba itineraries, which are (so far) planned to continue when the Empress moves south. Rare BillOh Posted November 15, 2017 #35 Share Posted November 15, 2017 I will be curious as to what cabin assignment I'll get on Majesty. I had a decent Ocean View on deck 9 of empress. I'll report perhaps next week what happens, will be curious as to how it works for others.
dreadpirate3 Posted November 15, 2017 #36 Share Posted November 15, 2017 I may be one of them, I never got a chance to sail her. Pondering Sept of 2018 now. She is great. I'm trying to decide if I can swing my first B2B while she is in PC.

Waterworld11 Posted November 15, 2017 #39 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Thanks RoLoHa for all that important information. Bill OH, yes it will be interesting to see where the new stateroom assignment will be. I am across the back of the boat on the 9th deck, chosen so it would be a quiet area. When I was on her this past March, I wasn't aware there would be 1700 College students on board for their spring break. I was upgraded to the owner's suite at the back, absolutely perfect, no noise coming from those students down the halls. I can only hope that I will be fortunate enough to get an upgrade again. Does anyone know if there is either a diamond or concierge lounge on board?
jchiefs13 Posted November 15, 2017 #40 Share Posted November 15, 2017 While Royal lists the 2 ships together they are not in the same class. Emoress is about half the size of Majesty. Indeed, she deserves to be referred to as being in "a class of her own". I loved Empress! -J
Rare BillOh Posted November 15, 2017 #41 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Does anyone know if there is either a diamond or concierge lounge on board? I've read that there is no lounge, but a diamond event somewhere like Boleros.

CapeCoralCruiser Posted November 15, 2017 #47 Share Posted November 15, 2017 Does anyone know if there is either a diamond or concierge lounge on board? MJ does not have a DL or CL, but they have a DL/CL style happy hour time in the VCL, with a very good spread of munchies. Not crowded at all when we were onboard a few months ago. Waterworld11 Posted November 19, 2017 #48 Share Posted November 19, 2017 Thanks CapeCoralCruiser for the info! Sounds like the same scenario that was on my recent Vision cruise. My family used to rent a house in Cape Coral for many years at 5640 Deauville Court. Wonderful location with the waterway on two sides of the house. Absolutely loved it!. I assume we will shortly know our fate with the new ship deployment. Should be interesting indeed!
