Would it be a good way to enjoy drinks without the extra quantity, and sugar/calories?

Heck, I could see the two of us even sharing a drink this way, without ordering two cocktails.

My tummy can only eat and drink so much in a day!!!

Shots are like $6.00 - $8.00, right?

Thanks!

Many people order a drink and a shot. For all sorts of reasons. Entirely depends on what type of shot, drink, etc. If you're worried about calories/sugar - make sure your shot is straight booze, and not the flavored stuff, ie stick to vodka, rum, whiskey etc - not Coconut rum or apple vodka or such, those all have added sugars.

If you're worried about the original drink with sugar/calories, consider drinking lower or no sugar ootions like rum and diet coke or vodka and diet tonic or Soda water. And bring those sugar free flavor drops to change it up, like Dasani or Crystal Lite. They have all sorts of flavors like pineapple Coconut or Mango peach or such so you get the tropical cocktail flavors with zero sugar or calories.

Otherwise - I'm not following your post in why you would do this. But yes, loads of people order s drink and a shot. Sometimes beer and shot of whiskey or margarita and shot of vodka or vodka/soda and sweet shot like a B52 or such..

Have yet to find diet tonic on any ship.

There is no other way to enjoy bourbon or scotch besides neat or with a small cube of ice...sip on that and enjoy the view from on board ship...relaxing, not filling, and quite enjoyable!! But beware: "good" bourbon or scotch can be addicting. :)
