Specialty restaurant dress code

We will be on Freedom in a week and have purchased the BOGO dining package for the first two nights. The first night is casual in MDR and I believe night 2 is formal. Just trying to decide what to pack in our carry on for the first night specialty restaurant as we may or may not receive luggage in time.

The cruise line suggests smart casual every night at specialty restaurants, but the reality is that you can wear whatever you want.

Visit the venue on boarding, you can change to 2nd and 3rd night if you wish.

Wow thanks for the quick replies. We have two young adults (32) traveling with us so that is why I was wondering about the dress code. Me planned on docker type slacks with polo shirts for the 3 men. I know the dress code/what cruisers end up wearing has changed a lot since our last cruise so that's why I was checking. Thank you everyone for the info.

We tried to switch our BOGO night so we wouldn't miss the first formal night on our recent AOS sailing. Neither restaurant would let us switch night!

Our luggage never arrived before dinner, so we were very casual.
