Questions Regarding MSC Seaside

We have aurea experience.

Does our teen (15) has free access into thermal area or do we have to pay for?

If yes, how much is the thermal area access for the 1 week cruise on board?

I saw a review which said kids of a certain age could come to the spa but don't recall the ages. I think it said 16 and up can go with parent after a release is signed, or it may have said 16 and up can go along and slightly younger had to have a parent with them. I'll be on the boat tomorrow so I'll check. :)

On Divina; Fantastica and Aurea, do not pay any Room Services charges, other than the actual cost for specialty pizza. YC get this pizza for free and drink delivery (by your butler), as well as a bigger room service menu.
The only difference between the YC room service menu and the one in the rest of the cabins (apart from fancier presentation and the YC one describes the breakfast available) is that there are no prices on the YC one:

YC RS menu:

Bea are those from Seaside? Just checking because I see the prices are in EU. I've seen a very different room service menu posted from on board Seaside. This was posted by Seaweeyin in her review and came from their Super Family Plus conneced rooms which is reportedly actually just three Balcony cabins which connect.

The above is the assorted foods page and below is the pizza page which does show prices.

It comes as about a 5 page booklet by the time they translate most of it and especially the delivery charge information in to about six different languages. You can see the most of it posted toward the bottom of the page here. You will note it shows no charges for the food, only the delivery charge.

Gert, the YC one is from Meraviglia and the other is from Orchestra. As you can see, the available items are all the same. I didn't post the pizza list, but, yes, it's a booklet alright.

It seems that there's no charge for items on Seaside except for pizza.

Hi all. I haven't checked in on the last few pages recently, so it's possible this info has already been shared / these questions already answered. Sorry for the delay, but I was waiting for answers from MSC's PR department, pasted below.

Is smoking allowed in the casino?

Based on guest feedback, we have made a section of our casino on the starboard aft side only, where we have slot machines, a smoking section. All tables on portside are non-smoking and so are slots on starboard side forward.

What is the charge for pizza delivery, and can you have it delivered anywhere onboard or just to your cabin?

Delivery is only available to staterooms, and is purchased on an a la carte basis. Now that MSC Seaside has officially begun a regular sailing schedule from Miami we are reviewing some of our on board services, including room service. We will provide further updates as these become available.

Does the ship have a mini-golf course? I didn’t see one, and I asked a crew member who said no, but there was a mini-golf tournament on the daily schedule for Dec. 4. Can you clarify?

There is no mini golf course on board, however you’ll see mini golf on the schedule because the activities team sets up a mini golf course with different obstacles for kids.

On our tour of the ship, the guide mentioned the sports bar serves food (including gluten-free items), but all I saw on the menu were chicken wings (which, to be fair, are gluten-free). Are there plans to add other nibbles?

The Sports Bar currently serves complimentary Nachos and salsa, and wings are available for purchase. There are plans to add more items to the menu in the coming months.

How many water slides are onboard? I only counted four, but for some reason I thought there were five. Also, they’re all free to use, correct?

There are four waterslides on board (5 water attractions including the toddler water slide). All free to use!

Are the cabanas in the Yacht Club area free for passenger use, or do they have to be booked?

They have to be reserved and there is a charge. $99 for port day and $149 for a sea day, per cabana.

What are the internet package prices for Social, Surfer and Streamer?

As of February 3, 2018 internet on board MSC Cruises is being upgraded to higher speed and larger bandwidth coverage. Guests can enjoy a 20% discount when pre-paying for the standard and premium packages. These packages for MSC Seaside are as follows:

- MSC Seaside:

- Value Chat & Social Networks: 1.5GB / $39.90 - Connect 1 device for social apps and network use during cruise.

- Standard: 3GB / $99.90 - Connect 2 devices for a "full internet" package for all uses. Perfect for normal users that want to browse web and check emails

- Premium: 6GB / $159.90 - Connect up to 4 devices for a "full internet" package for all usages. Perfect for heavy users or families.

- Standard Day Pass: 1GB / $40.90 - Connect up to 2 devices for a full internet package for all uses.

According to the spa menu, personal training sessions are offered for $38.50 each. How long are the sessions?

This price is for a 60-minute personal training session.

Looking at the Baby Club schedule, it lists “MSC Baby Time” and “MSC Baby Care.” I assume Baby Care is straight up babysitting. That’s free, correct? (I know late-night babysitting isn’t offered for kids under 3.) What is Baby Time? Is it just free playtime? Do parents have to be present for that?

Here is some clarification on Baby Time vs. Baby Care:

- Baby Time: MSC Baby Time is a space where parents can enjoy quality time with babies in their own special area, where the children can play with others their age. MSC Cruises encourages guests to use it as a space to have fun with their children, make friends with other parents vacationing with their families, and allow MSC Cruises’ experienced and professional childcare staff handle all the intricate details. MSC Baby Time will take place inside the Chicco branded room for free.

- Baby Care: Drop-off babysitting service available at the Chicco Baby Club, where babies under 3 are looked after by the on board dedicated staff. MSC Babycare service is available every day morning , afternoon and evening in dedicated times . This service is available for children between 1 and 3 years old and is it for free.

What do the Baby Chef cooking classes entail? (I assume they aren’t actually cooking anything.)

Baby Chef (2-to-3-year olds). 2-and 3-year old kids can get messy and learn in the kid-accessible kitchen during the fun Doremi Chef Challenge. Supervised by parents and our Head Chef, kids will learn how to prepare a tasty pizza.

I posted some of the bar menus, and people are now wondering which drinks are included in which packages. What are the rules on that for Seaside?

Starred items on the beverage menus throughout the ship are only included in the premium beverage package. Everything else is included in the Classic All Inclusive Drinks Package

Just confirming: Is free specialty dining for Black Card cruisers per person or per stateroom?

This is per stateroom, not per person.

Are umbrellas available on the Yacht Club’s sun deck?

No. they are not.

Do you have a sample of a Yacht Club restaurant menu that you might be able to send for breakfast/lunch/dinner? If not, can you just give me a general idea of what might be served there? Does the menu change daily?

Sample Yacht Club restaurant menus can be found below. Breakfast remains same each day of the cruise, lunch and dinner change daily.

Thanks, Ashley! I've added a few bits from my recent experience on Seaside below.

Is smoking allowed in the casino?

Based on guest feedback, we have made a section of our casino on the starboard aft side only, where we have slot machines, a smoking section. All tables on portside are non-smoking and so are slots on starboard side forward.

Our experience was the smoke was not very noticeable unless you were sat down next to a smoker or where someone had just been smoking. They must have a good air handler system in place in the Casino.

Mini golf that we saw was a few portable setups with some fake grass they rolled out up on the top pool deck between the pool and the movie screen. The younguns seemed to enjoy it.

We received nachos with salsa and guacamole one night in the Sports bar. Chips were that thick corn sort. They were nice and crisp. The salsa was pretty much just tomato with a few bits of onion. Guacamole was great. One afternoon they were giving out bowls of either chips or Asian crispy mix. Those last two options were also available in the Shine bar and the Champagne bar that night, and were given out at the CC Meet and Greet, too.

How many water slides are onboard? I only counted four, but for some reason I thought there were five. Also, they’re all free to use, correct?

There are four waterslides on board (5 water attractions including the toddler water slide). All free to use!

I tried out all the water slides and enjoyed them. Not super adrenaline junky worthy but adrenaline enough for my tastes. I had no trouble with the slide board sticking but I did see crew testing out the slide board slide right before they opened it that day. This was on Friday during the Nassau shore day.

Are the cabanas in the Yacht Club area free for passenger use, or do they have to be booked?

They have to be reserved and there is a charge. $99 for port day and $149 for a sea day, per cabana.

They have now set up the monitors at Guest Services to display initial internet connection and use instructions regularly.

We paid $79 several months ago for the Streamer package. The confirmation printed then said we'd get 1,500 MB or 1.5 GB plus 20% for early purchase. We received far more than that but I don't remember the exact number. It was 8+ GB and we didn't even use it all. We checked emails, surfed to several websites, let a friend use some of it to book a shore excursion via Trip Advisor, checked in for our homeward flight, tracked our homeward flight's tail number to see if it left Milan on time or not, checked the security cameras at home daily, and skyped with my MIL twice during the cruise for about ten minutes with no troubles.

According to the spa menu, personal training sessions are offered for $38.50 each. How long are the sessions?

This price is for a 60-minute personal training session.

I used a personal trainer for a nice work out and happened to be the only person in there at the time so I got to chat with several. They were very knowledgeable and friendly and I felt I got great value for the price. Personal trainers at my gym at home charge $50 for a single hour like that, although if you buy a package the discount brings it down to $35 per hour.

Starred items on the beverage menus throughout the ship are only included in the premium beverage package. Everything else is included in the Classic All Inclusive Drinks Package

If you want a drink with a star on a classic package and ask, they will make it for you just with alcohol included in the classic package so that you can try it for no extra charge.

Just confirming: Is free specialty dining for Black Card cruisers per person or per stateroom?

This is per stateroom, not per person.

Are umbrellas available on the Yacht Club’s sun deck?

No. they are not.

We wandered the ship and even wandered the length of deck 19 during the Nassau shore day period. Didn't initially realize where we'd wandered. There was one couple we saw in the Yacht Club area by the Yacht Club pool. Never saw any MSC umbrellas anywhere on the ship. Lots of shaded areas where the ship's structure provided shade, though. Usually there would be at least a couple of loungers tucked into those areas including up on 19. We took our umbrella with attchment clip and used it on a lounger by the Miami Beach Pool back against the rail out of the way. No one even glanced askew at our setup.

Friends stayed in the Yacht Club and reported the restaurant just served slightly upscaled versions of what was in the MDR nightly which right now is the same 7 menus weekly but will switch to a different set each week for a total of 14 different menus soon. They also had the option to go to the Yacht Club grill for steaks and lobster at dinner. My understanding was this was nightly. They said Venchi brought up a tray of chocolates every night.

Hope some of this helps : If anyone has any other questions I'm happy to answer if I can.

Update regarding room service charges:

So I ended up having to talk with a crew member on the ship to figure out exactly what was going on. Depending what type of service you have purchased - Bella, Fantastica, Aurea, or Yacht Club - there is a different room service guide.

If you are Bella the guide explains there is always a delivery charge.

If you are Fantastica the guide explains the charge is only between certain times. This is not what it means when it says room service charges are waived during the day when you book. They said there is an asterisk when you book. There was no asterisk on our printed confirmation from when we first booked but of course that's the condensed version.

I am not certain about Aurea but was told you can tell when you book. If there is an asterisk by the room service charge is raised it means only during regular hours.

Yacht Club never pays any charges for room service.

I thought I should clarify this since I know I was not the only one confused by how it appears. I know there were plenty of others who thought seeing room service delivery charges waived meant waived on our cruise. MSC would probably have a lot less folks visiting Guest Services about this if they just added during what hours they are waived.

So I've been avoiding this thread after my less than stellar Seaside cruise. But I just looked at the table of class benefits as a result of the post here about room service and noticed this ditty:

"*The 12-drink voucher package will be included with the Fantastica Experience for cruises until March 25, 2019."

So it seems like they're getting rid of the drink package next year. Not good. But at least they're giving more advance notice than they did with other cutbacks like the 2nd black card dinner.

The info on the website doesn't help, either. There are no asterisks indicating further notation next to "24-hour room service" under the 'Comfort' heading:

I'm not sure where you found that, but I found a much more detailed list when I went to make a reservation and clicked on "Compare MSC Inclusive Experience".

Comfort

Superior comfort ensured by free 24−hour room service (delivery is free from 6am - 11pm with Fantastica, Wellness & Aurea Experiences)

Breakfast in your stateroom (delivery + breakfast are free, starting at 6:00am)

Only bookings in the US (and Canada?) got the 12-drink vouchers, so this won't impact everybody (unlike the 2nd Black Card complimentary meal for 2 which affects ALL couples who both have Black Cards).

It appears to me that MSC is phasing out the use of vouchers. Someone else posted that they couldn't get the coffee vouchers (though it may just be an aberration).

But the coffee vouchers you had to purchase. The Fantastica vouchers add $100 of value to the booking and its a significant reduction.
