taylortime05 Posted December 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2017 We have only sailed Western & Eastern Caribbean on RCI, NCL, and Celebrity. We have Southern Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and Panama Canal on our bucket list. Do you know the itinerary yet for the Ovation in Alaska? Do you know when they will be releasing the dates and itineraries? Thanks

Thanks Exact itinerary no, but it is replacing the Explorer which Sailed 7 nights out of Seattle and went to ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria then back to Seattle. Dates open up December 11. hollon Posted December 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2017 I know nothing about this ship, can someone suggest the best balcony rooms? or ones to stay away from (noise, etc)
voyager70 Posted December 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2017 Exact itinerary no, but it is replacing the Explorer which Sailed 7 nights out of Seattle and went to ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria then back to Seattle. Dates open up December 11. Explorer's itinerary, as well as other RCI ships that have sailed Alaska out of Seattle, was Skagway, Juneau, Tracy Arm Fjord, and Victoria. I did this sailing on Rhapsody in 2012. I'm guessing Ovation's itinerary will be the same, but I could be wrong. It was a great cruise but the one way sailings from Vancouver to Seward and vice versa are a better itinerary for Alaska. That being said, Quantum Class ships are amazing, and with two indoor pool areas they are perfect for cold weather cruises.

insley Posted December 10, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2017 What kinds of reasonably priced ocean view cabins are there for a family of 5 with kids ages 15, 11, and 2? Not interested in suites.
Ashland Posted December 10, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 10, 2017 Is anyone as pumped as I am for Ovation of the seas cruising Alaska 2019?!?!? Maybe some are but I'm certainly not. Not a fan of the Quantum class (any where)...the Radiance is the best RCI ship for Alaska...JMHO ;)
Rare little britain Posted December 10, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 10, 2017 Adore Quantum class and I think the views from 280 will be stunning. To imagine being in North Star looking at whales...... smart move RCI!! LB > who is doing AK on Radiance next year, but somehow wishes she had waited .... To imagine being in North Star looking at whales...... smart move RCI! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Those extra 10 degrees of viewing on the Ovation must be amazing, lol The 270 show lounge will be amazing and the North Star, which is why I'm waiting for tomorrow (Monday 11th December) for when these sailings get released. I loved Anthem when she was in the UK (twice) and agree that some rooms on deck 6 will have a lifeboat blocking part of the bottom view, but for a cheaper price can be acceptable to some. Deck 7 and up are all fine and there is a lot to choose from. The only difference I see on Ovation (due to the Asian market) is Johnny Rockets is replaced with Kung Fu Panda Noodle Bar, sounds nice, and the Casino is bigger taking away the music hall venue. I think they will put back Johnny Rockets as it seems like Ovation is going to be doing Alaska-Australia from 2019-2020 and probably for the foreseeable future. Regarding your concern about the Music Hall, only the back part of Deck 4 Music Hall behind the bar is occupied with slot machines in one whole line. but the rest of the Music Hall including Deck 5 remains intact. In fact when i was in the music hall on my last Ov cruise, I can hardly notice the Casino.
Hokie79 Posted December 10, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2017 I’m excited by it. Will be a nice way to introduce my kids to Alaska. I really want to do a one way cruise one day but not till my kids get older. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Ocean Dancer Posted December 10, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 10, 2017 What is the entertainment like on Ovation? We have sailed the Anthem, so what would be comparable to We Will Rock You, the Gift and Spectra? Also sailing out of Sydney, will smoking be allowed in the Music Hall casino? I'm sure smoking is not allowed on any sailings out of Sydney. Hopfully the Music Hall will be returned back to the Dance Hall with live music that it was meant for. No real Broadway/Westend show but they could change this at any time for new sailing sin Alaska.

I thought Ovation for Alaska was coming out, but I must have missed the announcement on Radiance for Alaska. Perhaps they were referencing just Ovation. Either way, nothing for Alaska itineraries in 2019. We are looking forward to a suite on Ovation and wanted to book first day for best selection/price. But, as seems to be the norm lately, nothing available. Maybe one of our resident TA's can see if the itineraries are able to be booked as I am no longer a TA and don't have access.
