boaterette Posted December 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Hello everyone, I will be sailing on the Ruby in three weeks. So looking forward to it. I am traveling with my 96 year young mother. She does not eat dinner but has her main meal at lunch. She enjoys a good steak. Do they have any steak available at lunch either included or at an extra charge? Thank you for your help.
Rare 1025cruise Posted December 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2017 You might find one on a sea day on the MDR lunch menu, but I don't recall. All the extra charge items will be at dinner.
easyboy Posted December 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Unlikely, but it can be a lunch item at the buffet carving station. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
XBGuy Posted December 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2017 There is a "Live from the Ruby Princess. . . ." thread on the board right now. The poster is showing the dining room menus each day. This may give you some insight. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2572166 The specialty restaurants are not open for lunch except for one or two "sea days" when the Crown Grill offers the Pub Lunch--which does not offer a steak. Also, I'm not sure that the dining rooms are open for lunch on "port days." I don't know what itinerary you are taking, but you might consider having a nice lunch ashore on those days. I suggest you talk with your head waiter at dinner the first night and explain the situation. They may be willing to prepare steak for her even though it isn't on the lunch menu - with it ordered a day ahead.

cruzsnooze Posted December 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2017 At 96, if she wants a steak at lunch I bet princess will make it happen! Not to be rude but Princess wants younger people indoctrinated and hooked on cruising to give them the revenue for next 50 years. Please ask the head waiter to make this happen and I hope you will be accommodated.
