moosecrouse Posted December 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Have to say redeeming the Shareholder OBC was one of the smoothest transactions I've had with NCL. Even with a mistake by me(forget res# on the request for) I had the OBC added to my account within 72 hours. Also after reading conflicting reports I was able to get the $100 OBC even though I am traveling solo in a studio. Well done NCL Sent from my SM-N900V using Forums mobile app
jinteso Posted December 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Glad to hear that it went so well. Did you email it in or send it by mail? I emailed mine in on Saturday and got a reply that they received it and I would hear something within 1 business day. Still nothing. I know that it is only a day and a half. I heard back from the early on the morning of the 2nd day requesting I resubmit the form with the confirmation#. I resubmitted late on day 2 and had the OBC by middle of 3rd day. Son of a son of a ... Posted December 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2017 We’ve used it 3 times. First 2 times, it went very smoothly. The last time, emailed the paperwork, but no response for a month. I sent an email inquiry to investor relations and they sent me an amenity statement in 24 hours. Great benefit ... just keep your eye out for the amenity statement.

HokiePoq Posted December 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Can you tell me more about this benefit? Having read CC I purchased Carnival stock a few years ago and have collected on our HAL cruises and seen the stock go way up. Also read about RCCL and how it is so difficult to ever use it, didn't buy theirs. Is it 100 shares like the others? Does anyone have a link to more info on this? Thanks in advance. Rare rjm11 Posted December 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2017 I too would like more information about this. We recently purchased some, and I didn't know there was a potential OBC benefit.... please elaborate! I have a cruise booked in March and would love to add some OBC.... Rare rjm11 Posted December 20, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 20, 2017 an internet search found this. Does anyone know if they do this every year? http://www.nclhltdinvestor.com/static-files/91699aad-cb30-4ff6-8e40-4dc290cb03b5
ColinIllinois Posted December 20, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 20, 2017 It's easy to find. NCL.com, look on the bottom of the home page under "for investors".

Looks like it is 100 shares and OBC is similar to Carnival which is very good. Now to check the stock price and see if it's worth a try. Have to check the fine print. txagfan Posted December 20, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Agree, but if you do it close to sailing check your onboard statement. Mine didn’t post for some reason. If you are someone who owns individual stocks and believe the stock will appreciate go for it, it’s been a good investment for me. That being said, I have a Master’s in Finance and typically find individual stocks to be a pretty poor investment for most people unless they own a substantial amount of index funds first. jaja Posted December 20, 2017 #16 Share Posted December 20, 2017 I have never had a problem getting OBC credited quickly. It is an easy process...I usually fax the paperwork and get reply next day or so. Print out amenity confirmation ...and done...:D
don't-use-real-name Posted December 20, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Getting $100 OBC from NCL is a good deal as NCL presently does not pay stock dividends. For 100 shares with a quarterly dividend (not paid) of $0.25 a share would be the same as receiving the $100 with possible taxable results. OBC is not taxed but note this OBC is NON-Refundable - use or lose it but there are ways to cash it out thru the casino. What is even better is the $100 OBC is on every cruise you take not just one a year. But what must be remembered is that at the current market of some $55 a share this means that $5,500 must be parked in stock to get that OBC bonus. If you paid less for the stock all that much the better but never the less the investment is parked until sold. Other cruise lines give OBC to its stockholders and also pay dividends i.e. RCCL and Carnival. Still yet it is a good deal for the frequent loyal stock holding cruiser ! I think we either faxed ours or sent in via email. No problems, credit has always been given within a few days. We have almost doubled our money since purchasing it about 4 years ago and we have used our OBC more than once a year. swedish weave Posted December 22, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I want to point out an important difference in the shareholder benefits between the three cruise lines. NCL gives you $100 OBC for a 14 day cruise. Carnival and Royal Caribbean give you $250 OBC for a 14 day cruise. In order to get $250 on NCL, the cruise must be 15 days or longer.
