UndcvrNana Posted December 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2017 I am going on Princess Glacier North cruise. Better to get starboard or port side cabin. We will be getting a balcony and would rather just sit on it and enjoy. Please give opinions. Thanks!
CruiserBruce Posted December 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Commonly asked and discussed here. There is no best side. The scenery is big picture, and all around you. There is no magic spot you need to be to see the "best" scenery.
rapata Posted December 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Going north land will mostly be on starboard side, but so far off you wont see much, and you will go through passages with land both sides. When you are in Glacier Bay you will want to be out and about on the ship seeing it from different places. Depending on time of year, it could be too cold to sit out on the balcony. We did Alaska with an inside cabin and were glad we had not spent money on a view or balcony. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Ashland Posted December 31, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2017 You will have amazing views regardless...Choose the cabin location that best fits your needs while onboard the ship.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2017 As usual CruiserBruce has it right. Having sailed Alaska many times we place emphasis on where on the deck we are located but not which side we are on and we find that we enjoy special views from the open deck outside the ship or from public areas with panoramic windows. When you are on the open deck you can quickly move to side to side and forward and back. Keith
Budget Queen Posted December 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2017 IF you happen to ONLY want a balcony view when in Glacier and will not be out moving with the views, then a port side is preferable and matches up with the commentary. dcyonce Posted December 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Both sides are great, but for the northbound Alaska Inside Passage we prefer the suites with aft facing balconies. The cold wind is much less and the view is always spectacular! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Becoming Posted January 1, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 1, 2018 I enjoyed being on the starboard side on my northbound last summer. We were always facing land while in port in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. It may be different for your cruise. Enjoy Alaska! Patti
