madiaka Posted January 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2018 Does anyone know when the next dry dock is for Freedom of the Seas? Will they be getting the upgrades that Liberty has - water slides and Splashaway Bay? I’m looking at a cruise at the end of 2019 and I can’t seem to find any info on what they will have by that time - deck plans, etc. I thought I asked this before but can’t find the history or comments in a search. The cruise line has not publicly revealed any plans for a Freedom dry dock. If I was to guess, I'd say the next dry dock would be Dec 2019 or Jan 2020, since her last dry dock was in Jan 2015. Bedstemor Posted May 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2018 I was checking since we are supposed to sail on freedom in January 2020. Just went on oasis which is headed to dry dock and service was not up to par. Evidently a lot of their crew was moved to symphony. Never thought to check dry dock schedules before sailing. 😔
Biker19 Posted May 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2018 I Just went on oasis which is headed to dry dock and service was not up to par. Oasis dry dock is 17 months away. There's likely to be very little causation of service decline from an impending dry dock.

zuggie Posted May 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 11, 2018 Timing for drydock in 2020 Since I have cruises booked on the FOS thru April 2020 it should be after that time frame. It isn’t. Just received notice from our TA that our Freedom cruises booked in January of 2020 have been cancelled. Freedom drydock to be January 19 thru February 23. Decent OBC offered for switching to other Royal cruises.

mattpro Posted May 11, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2018 Freedom drydock I actually have reservations for FOS from Jan. 19,2020 thru April 2020. When I booked on board the Jan. 12 -19 dates were in red. The mgr. of Next Cruises told me that generally means there will be a charter cruise. The FOS drydock will take approximately about a month to complete according to ship's officers.
cw2go Posted May 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2018 I called RCCL this morning, the rep confirmed the Jan.19, 2020 Freedom sailing will be cancelled for drydock,(I believe she said for 35 days) then advised to call back Monday for any offers as those details aren't available yet. mattpro Posted March 29, 2019 #20 Share Posted March 29, 2019 The first cruise after the FOS drydock will be March 1, 2020. Changes I've heard of : Concierge Lounge being renamed Suite Lounge and will be moving to deck 14 port side. Suite guests and Pinnacles are welcome - Diamond + no longer allowed in. Interior rooms will be placed on deck 10 where the lounge is currently located. Diamond Lounge being moved from deck 14 starboard side to deck 5 where the Connoisseur Club is currently located - the Star Lounge will be used for overflow. A new specialty restaurant will be put on deck 14 to make use of their floor to ceiling windows. The C&A area on deck 6 will be moved to the library on deck 7. New interior rooms in vacated space on deck 6. Smoking will be banned in the casino in 2020, though I don't know if it will occur after drydock or some time later in the year. There should be new carpeting throughout the ship and rooms should get a renovation during this 6 week drydock. Vintages on the Promenade may be replaced by there new family/playroom offering. Though this was still iffy a few weeks ago The source of this info came from the Captain and Hotel Director - with the caveat that nothing is for sure with RCL until you actually see it. Getting out there Posted March 29, 2019 #21 Share Posted March 29, 2019 Doesn't sound like it's getting really revamped like I hoped. What is the new family playroom offering?

What is the new family playroom offering? These two pages show what is tentatively planned with the Royal Amplified program. It looks pretty revamped to me. http://www.royalcaribbeanincentives.com/content/uploads/2018-2019-Fleet_Guide.pdf https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-ships/renovations-royal-amplified

The smoking ban in the casino would be nice but I think we'd have heard more about that and it would be cruise wide but if it's happening, great! And I could totally have missed it if it was talked about elsewhere! I don't see Vintages being changed to a family/playroom - I would expect they just change it to another revenue bar or quick service or something. MalteseMama2 Posted March 29, 2019 #24 Share Posted March 29, 2019 Just off Liberty and I have to say DH & I LOVED the location of the Suite Lounge. We will be on Freedom after her Refurb and hope they do the same with her. Windows instead of interior location and lots more room. Outdoor seating area only accessible through the SL.
