Keys2Heaven Posted January 19, 2018 #152 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Sorry you had a bad experience. We have had 2 very good & one mediocre LCG experiences on Silho and Ref...but the last one on Ref was awful...We will not try again at LCG maitre d at first refused to accomodate need for larger table for 8..( roll call friends), gave us the worst waiter on the planet who served the wrong orders to 3 of us,. Then insisted we acceot it Maitre d also insisted and argued but finally re-lented.,,.horrible dinner! Not a very appetizing presentation...portions look much smaller than in the past,,Hope you mention this to someone,..and thanks for the heads up. I've noticed that the steaks looks overdone, both in these pics and the earlier dinner. I don't know how you like your steaks, but those don't look appealing to me at all. helen haywood Posted January 19, 2018 #153 Share Posted January 19, 2018 (edited) Thank you for saving us from making a mistake and going to LCG!! I have always thought my husband wouldn't care for it as he grills expertly and I was afraid his steak would not be cooked to his satisfaction...but it is the one specialty we've never tried so I waffled. But your pictures! No effort on presentation at all and absolutely underwhelming looking!! If your steak was undercooked then somehow they managed to burn the outside without cooking the inside! Murano here we come!! (We're on. B2B after you.) Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited January 19, 2018 by helen haywood

CHEZMARYLOU Posted January 20, 2018 #155 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I have to say the pictures of the food at the Lawn Club Grill make the food look very unappetizing. Our 1st and only experience at the LCG was on our B2B on Silhouette in 2016. We were planning on going twice on our next cruise but may have to rethink that. Agree about the pasta at Tuscan, I was underwhelmed but my DH liked the lasagna because it was loaded with meat, I prefer more sauce and cheese. WNCtourist Posted January 20, 2018 #156 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Disappointed to read your LCG experience. Last year on Reflection we has a delicious meal with exceptional filets. I was looking forward to another meal but now not sure. Sent from my XT1254 using Forums mobile app
WonderMan3 Posted January 20, 2018 Author #157 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Today we were in Antigua. We booked an excursion through the ship as I had heard some information advising not to go off on your own here. The excursion was called Antigua Beach Extravaganza. It included transportation to and from the beach, lunch and two drinks including beer and rum punch, a beach chair plus access to restrooms. Cost was $64pp. Umbrellas were an additional $10 each. There was also massage and jet skis available and a number of local vendors selling merchandise. You get a total of about 3.5 hours at the beach. The beach visited was Ffryes Beach, which was about a 30 minute drive from the port. The beach was absolutely gorgeous with aquamarine water and soft sand. The lunch was tasty. And although we encountered several sun showers during our visit, we still had a wonderful day. I would recommend this tour. WonderMan3 Posted January 20, 2018 Author #159 Share Posted January 20, 2018 After our excursion returned we had just under an hour before the all aboard time so Mike and I took a quick browse through the St. John’s shops but didn’t find anything we liked so we headed back to the ship. After showering we enjoyed a lovely sailaway on our balcony. Mike took a nap at that point and I headed to the casino to do some play. It was evening chic night tonight and we both didn’t feel like dressing up so we just skipped the restaurants and had dinner at Oceanview followed by some more play at the casino. I don't suppose they serve a Chateu for 2, do they? Nevermind, I see that they do! Edited January 20, 2018 by Keys2Heaven

My wife and I will be on Silhouette in 2020....yes, forever from now. LOL I wouldn't call myself a grill expert....well, o.k. I know how to cook a great steak and, yes, the pic of the steak shown made me want to cry. Why and how would you ruin a good piece of meat that way! I can only presume, wish, hope, speculate that whomever is running that joint (save the wood fired pizza which I hear is awesome and I LOVE wood fired pizza) doesn't know what they are doing and should be summarily replaced....ESPECIALLY if they cop an attitude with passengers who don't approve of the cuisine. How can anything improve unless they learn to LISTEN to their customers!

floralscent Posted January 20, 2018 #163 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Catching up from last night’s events. For dinner we ate at the Lawn Club Grill. This was our first visit here as prior to this cruise we had only ever been on ships that do not offer the grill. So we were very excited to try this venue. Unfortunately it turned out to be one of our worst dining experiences ever with Celebrity. Server was so caught up in chit-chatting with the table next to us that he never took our drink order and then we had to chase him for various things through the rest of the meal (and the restaurant was half empty). Steaks were undercooked based on temperatures requested and the quality of the filets was not comparable to Luminae or Tuscan (where we had by coincidence had filet the previous two nights). The side dishes were an absolute joke; the lobster Mac and cheese was like some cafeteria velveeta concoction with one tiny lump of chewy lobster, the corn and rice were flavorless, and the blueberry cobbler dessert was like it came out of a can. Really, really shocking that this was from a specialty restaurant at Celebrity. There was some good though; the flatbread pizza was amazing, as was the cookie dessert and the salad bar had a nice selection and the bratwurst was fine. The location is wonderful up on the lawn at night while you’re at sea, but that atmosphere was ruined by them blasting 80’s heavy metal music like Motley Crue and Guns ‘n Roses in the Restaurant. (Strangely enough this is a trend on this ship as they have been blasting heavy metal at the casino too). Anyway, we have never had to raise an issue like this to a restaurant manager on board before save for once several years ago over an issue at the buffet. We gave him the positives and the negatives. He was open to listening mostly and got only a little bit defensive. When he wasn’t offering any resolution to the problem though, like a “come back and give us another try on us” or some such (even though we had no plan on returning) then I had to insist that Cindy and John have the fees waived. Especially since none of us even finished our entrees or sides fully as we didn’t care for them. We are not ones to seek compensation normally for issues like this but there were just so many things wrong with this meal that it had to be said. I would advise caution about eating here, at least on Silhouette anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Forums WonderMan3, I couldn't agree more! We are specialty dining travelers and find Lawn Club Grill to be sub-par. Atmosphere is horrible...we had to same exact waiter problems on the Silhouette. We walked in, were seated and then became invisible. No drink order or attention for at least a 10 minutes and they weren't even busy. Staff just chatting with other customers or themselves. I know food is subjective but ours was mediocre at best. The best food was the salad bar and cookie for dessert. I honestly don't understand why Celebrity would waste such a great prime location on such a terrible restaurant or why so many cruisers love Lawn Club Grill. Glad you stood up for your sister and husband. Love your 'live' review! Great pics and posts. Thank you-

mngazer Posted January 20, 2018 #168 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I am boarding on the 26th and I just heard there is a “small” Moro outbreak aboard the Silhouette but special precautions are being taken. Reenwad Posted January 20, 2018 #172 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Can you also confirm that Silhouette changes the time when crossing the time zones? Or does it stay on Central time as it was in Florida? Thanks so much! Loving this!

Can you let us know what dock you arrive at in St. Lucia please? I heard there are two different docks in the port. Enjoy! Every Celebrity cruise I have been on docked at Pointe Seraphine which is just outside of the center of Castries but has its own private shopping complex which is nice. Castries itself is not safe to walk around alone. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Or does it stay on Central time as it was in Florida? Thanks so much! Loving this! All Celebrity ships change time zones if you go out to the eastern or southern Caribbean islands. You’ll go from Eastern time (Florida) to Atlantic time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
WonderMan3 Posted January 20, 2018 Author #175 Share Posted January 20, 2018 This morning we had our first breakfast at Luminae this cruise and it was wonderful. Great service and tasty food. Mike had pancakes while I had Eggs Benedict and we both had some delicious pastries; the cherry danish and blueberry cake were to die for!
