Milwaukee Eight Posted January 23, 2018 #551 Share Posted January 23, 2018 As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I am well on my way to getting there, probably earlier in life than most ever do. But I will still never wear it, just as I have never worn any of the other *status* pins along the way. I’m simply just trying to understand why this pin would be so different that I would need to wear it and make everyone go “look at me, I am special”. If it doesn’t bother you the why would you think it makes anyone feel special? I don’t wear shorts into the MDR but don’t care if others do. It’s my vacation and not theirs or anyone else’s. 2chiefs Posted January 23, 2018 #557 Share Posted January 23, 2018 I think I'm confused. There's some discussion about whether or not to wear a name tag to the DL. Are we talking about the C&A PIN or a name tag? Does the Pinnacle pin have the person's name engraved on it? I have never seen one up close. I’m simply just trying to understand why this pin would be so different that I would need to wear it and make everyone go “look at me, I am special”. Outside of the Diamond Club, CL, or SL most passengers probably would have no idea what the badge means, If I got to 700 points you bet I would wear it, with pride. It's not a bad thing, and doesn't make passengers status driven. Almost all of the pinnacles I've met are very nice people. Those that weren't, were probably a**holes at D or D+. LOL  Is it really necessary for officers on the ship to wear a uniform? Status... This whole thread is riddled with baseless speculation. If you are proud to be a grandparent, you show off their pictures. If you are proud of your travels, you put souvenirs in a curio cabinet. If you are a veteran, you might display awards. If you are proud of your car, you wax it and drive it around. The list goes on and on but I think the point is whether it is viewed as something to be proud of or used to flaunt. It all goes back to who the person is and how he/she acts, not what they wear.

Sunny AZ Girl Posted January 23, 2018 #564 Share Posted January 23, 2018 How would you feel if Royal eliminated overflow areas on those cruises packed with Diamonds and above? Sent from my iPhone using Forums I would not be happy with that, but I haven't seen that happen yet and I am not inclined to buy into rumors before the fact. Rare John&LaLa Posted January 23, 2018 #566 Share Posted January 23, 2018 John - never know when you are kidding or serious. On recent Oasis saw lots of pinnacle badges in ship bars and the DL. The few times we went to the DL, we saw a small group with badges (some with out) enjoying the venue. M Semi serious. I used to wonder why someone with Pinnacle level would be in the DL vs the SL on Oasis. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app When we were on Oasis last month, there were these two guys from suites that came to the DL every night. We got into a conversation with them one night and they said their wives were off at the casino at that time each night and they liked coming to the DL instead of the SL. They didn't say why. grapau27 Posted January 23, 2018 #569 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Guess you can't really understand it if you don't have one. You deserve the opportunity to flaunt your status as not many people will achieve Pinnacle status. I saw a lady on Freedom in June near the DL wearing a Pinnacle badge.I told her i love your badge and she smiled and said Thank You.

Powersboyee2 Posted January 24, 2018 #574 Share Posted January 24, 2018 If it doesn’t bother you the why would you think it makes anyone feel special? I don’t wear shorts into the MDR but don’t care if others do. It’s my vacation and not theirs or anyone else’s. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Explain how there is any reason at all to wear it other than to “show off” or “flaunt their status” or “be recognized for your achievement” as others have said the reasons are? You aren’t wearing it for yourself, because you know when you are pinnacle, obviously. You aren’t wearing it for the crew, because they will know who you are on day 1. So then why? It’s for others to notice lol. Which in many cultures, trying to be noticed is tacky. I’m not alone in this thinking am I? As you said, it’s not your proghtive to pay attention or care what anyone else is wearing in the MDR. Which I 100% agree. Just like the pins, I don’t care at all that people wear them I just simply said I think it’s gaudy and tacky. It’s somehow only ok for a pineapple to care about what others are doing or what they are thinking because they are forcing the fact that they are the highest status on people around them by wearing it. I’ve been on many cruises that Craig was sailing on. Ate meals with him and many other pinnacles. Sat in the b2b lounge with him. Never once have I seen him wear it and he’s at what 4K points? As has also been said, it’s all about how you act. No one else other than you, really cares if you are pinnacle. It’s a great achievement yes.... but no one else cares. Do military members wear their medals of achievement any time they are in public?? How about Olympic medalists? The list goes on....

It wasn’t popular to serve during that time. I have several hats with a Screaming Eagle that I wear proudly. Life lessons tell me don’t sweat the small stuff. Things could be much worse. Obviously, it bothers you they wear their pins. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
