DRS/NC Posted February 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2018 I would have liked to take that tour but we weren't in port late enough. Are you in port late?

juliemc Posted February 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Are there any benefits to evening whale tours other than using the day for other things? Are there more whale sightings etc? When have alaska booked for 2019 and are in Juneau until 9pm.
wolfie11 Posted February 17, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2018 I have done this. I actually prefer the day tours, but the food was excellent. My sense is that they don't go as far or look as hard for whales as everyone is busy eating the really good food. We did see a number of whales though. sunnyisles Posted February 23, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted February 23, 2018 We'll be in port until 10 PM. This tour is through Juneau tours, not HAL. They guarantee seeing whales. Also it's only drinks and appetizers, no buffet. We chose this to have the day free.

There is a ton of sunlight in the evening so there are no worries here.
Happy Sails Posted February 28, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2018 We used Juneau tours July 2017 and would give them below average ranking on their whale watch tour. Other whale watch tours at the same time of day saw bubble net feeding. We did see a pod of orcas and just two distant humpback sightings. Captain spent more time flirting with the two college age female mates over the PA than he did narrating the tour. I would take a chance on another operator next time. Budget Queen Posted March 1, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 1, 2018 Many times evening whale watches are shorter, shorter means less sighting opportunities. TIME is a significant factor, longer means more. :) Juneau is 100% humpback sightings, has been so, over 20 years that I've been going there. So the "guarantee", is universal for any vendor. sellwingri Posted March 5, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 5, 2018 Are private tours available at the port in Juneau? Can anyone recommend a private tour of the town for 2 people?
Budget Queen Posted March 6, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Are private tours available at the port in Juneau? Can anyone recommend a private tour of the town for 2 people? Yes, there are vendor booths set up along the docks. You can easily, do a self guided of the "town", if of interest? I think it's better to find out the points of interest there, http://www.traveljuneau.com travel guide books, and figure out what you want to see and do. Then just simply go there, more favorable than just the short, street looks you would get with a drive by. If no other interests, MGT/M&M is a long time well established vendor that does these types of general tours.
