Rare steamboats Posted February 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2018 I just started my photo intense review of our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the MSC Seaside, Feb 3rd-10th, 2018. I try to add a new post every day. The review starts with a deck by deck description of the ship (deck 4-8, rest is part 2). Sorry, the text is in German but that doesn´t matter for the first two parts. For all following parts google translates usually works quite well (although sometimes some funny translations). steamboats

toxicfairy Posted February 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Love love love the photos. We have to wait until July but we are getting excited. My husband actually started talking about it and he rarely ever gets excited about vacation until we are there! thegraminator Posted February 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2018 What an excellent review ! Loved all the photos and the descriptions so that we knew what we were looking at One question please . . . You stated smoking was prohibited in the casino . My understanding is that one area of the casino was a smoking area, is this true ? Thank you for sharing your experience ! I am looking forward to reading the next installment ! Rare steamboats Posted February 17, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Thanks all! thegraminator, I only walked through the casino a couple of times but I do not gamble. I haven´t encountered any smoke. Plus the casino opens up to the Piazza and Grande Pizza (there are stairs going up/down). So I assumed it´s 100% smoke free. I didn´t see any separate (glas enclosed) area for smokers. steamboats
CTBob Posted February 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Smoking was allowed in parts of the casino when I was on board. However it seemed to be well contained and wasn't a big problem.
Tall-Cruiser Posted February 17, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Steamboats - As always, I love your reviews and fantastic photos. I remember a review you did of a cruise on MSC to UAE with some beautiful sites that I now have added to my bucket list :)

Tall-Cruiser Posted February 17, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Thanks, Tall-Cruiser, that was the MSC Fantasia a year ago. steamboats That review and cruise you did opened my eyes to again something different and beautiful. The photos and architecture are awesome. I look at those photos from time to time just to get a feeling of being there. One of these days hopefully. :) Hope you had a great time on Seaside. We enjoyed ours a lot.
Asecert Posted February 17, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Steamboats, I love your review and pictures so far. I appreciate that you are going deck by deck describing where everything is. I can't wait until I sail on Seaside in December (seems sooo far away). I can't wait for part 2!

Rare steamboats Posted February 18, 2018 Author #14 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Thanks all! There will be a new entry each day by 10 am (German time) until the "end of the cruise". Today is part 2 of the ship. Tomorrow is more text featuring lots of extra costs. The following entry will be the cabin. Then our trip starts. steamboats

Rare steamboats Posted February 20, 2018 Author #17 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Todays installment is the cabin - we´ve been on deck 13 in cabin 13145. One tricky detail: The master switch requires the cabin card. It turns on the plugs too. And you can use another card. It obviously recognizes the RFID chip. The actual trip starts tomorrow. Thanks for following! steamboats

thegraminator Posted February 24, 2018 #23 Share Posted February 24, 2018 Steamboats , I am loving your review so far! Thank you for the ljnks! Your photos are magnificent especially the ones of the sunrise and sunsets ! I was surprised to see that you had to pay for the zip line . I thought it was included in your fare as a Yacht Club experience . Thanks again for sharing your experience ! Looking forward to reading the rest. Rare steamboats Posted February 25, 2018 Author #24 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Thanks, thegraminator, We had a regular Fantastica cabin but got full Yacht Club access (by the ships management as a courtesy for journalists - we did not know about this in advance). Yes, the Zip-Line is included for Yacht Club passengers. In our special case we were charged and the charge was removed from our bill. But as not everybody gets those privileges I mentioned the fee. steamboats
