Was just called and offered 2 jr suites and 500 obc for my OS

50% refund back to form of payment

Suite benefits

500 obc per COUPLE not total

Royal made a first offer so they already have the lower hand

They could always approach another person booked in an OS. But then again, how many folks stick 4 people in an OS?

For me (speaking out of turn likely as I have never sailed in a suite) they'd have to make it worth it, what the poster you quoted asked for (all suite perks, the two Jr suites, 50% refund on the original cruise fare, plus a significant OBC for each cabin) would make me seriously consider it, what they initally offered wouldn't. If royal didn't want to consider something along those lines, they'd have to find someone else

to negotiate with, or just take it.

Assuming that they'd give me a refund of the price difference, I would definitely take it! 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies - it's a no-brainer. I've traveled on Liberty twice, once with two balcony cabins and once in a GS. Suite perks on Liberty were "meh" - a crowded suite lounge, a concierge that we never used and we didn't need an escort off the ship. For me, two bathrooms for four people would trump all of that!

Thanks Bob! Personally I think I’d take the $500 and two juniors. Unless the pricing discrepancy was bigger when I booked. I know on these older ships a grand is typically equal to two balconies so assuming the os to jr is similar. I just don’t get the hype about the perks. Doesn’t seem all that great to me on the older ships.

I agree. The evening CL access and MDR room service are the biggest perks to me, and that may not be worth the mioney to you.

Man, I’d ask for a lot more as you lose almost all suite perks by downgrading.

Your are technicaly right of course, I suppose they could offer to still give you some or most of the suite perks, minus the "butler" I suppose. But given Royals communication track record, I could see them promising and not delivering or having to fight for it once on board.

Don't understand the hype over MDR room service. It can't be as fresh as eating in the dining room. Plus you have to tip them. 😱😱

No butler with OS.

A number have suggested asking for full suite privileges. Personally, I believe this could lead to a lot of confusion at check-in or while on board if suite privileges were granted. Would you get a gold card or silver? Would you get invited to the special events?

I prefer to keep things simple. If I agree to move to JS then I accept that I lose suite privileges. However, for me the only reason to squeeze four people into one room is to benefit from suite privileges. if that wasn't important then I would have booked 2 balconies.

It all comes down to why book OS for 4 people. If it is price then switch to 2 JS is a really good offer as it is more comfortable. If it is the reserved seating, VIP brunch in chops and access to CL that is important then I wouldn't budge. I certainly wouldn't risk the promise of switch to JS while retaining full suite privileges.

If this is a family of four, of course they must keep the OS.....otherwise, Mom and Dad would have to split up into separate cabins, which is probably not what they would want. Speculating of course, but two cabins might not be an option for them.
