DallasGuy75219 Posted February 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2018 I'm aware that almost all the whale watching excursions in Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta stop running by late March or mid-April when the whales start heading north. I'll be in Cabo San Lucas on April 16 and 17 and in Puerto Vallarta on April 18 and have found one single company (in Cabo) that does whale watching tours through the end of April. They do have a whale sighting guarantee, but I'm still very leery of booking for April 16 when all the other tours have stopped for the season. Does anyone have experience actually seeing whales in Cabo after April 15?
CruiserBruce Posted February 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2018 I think it will be slim pickings. The sighting guarantee gets you another whale watching trip on another day. When do you think you would be able to take advantage of that?
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2018 I agree with CruiserBruce. I would plan something else. Keith
pulledporky Posted March 4, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2018 Just got off the Splendor yesterday. Fewest whale spottings in the 12 or so MR cruises we’ve taken. Usually spot 30 to maybe 100 whale spouts while at anchor in Cabo; saw zero this year.
helencruising Posted March 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2018 I did a cruise the first week of April a few years ago and booked a whale watching excursion. We only saw a one whale with her baby at the very end of the excursion. It was great as we saw them close up. But, having done multiple whale excursions in Cabo earlier in the year I wouldn’t do it in April again.
