Which Bars on Meraviglia have Dancing?

The 'largest' lounge with dancing is the Meraviglia lounge on deck 6. I've just written a review about Meraviglia and this was one of our biggest dislikes (if you like). According to another reviewer there are enough seats for about 60 people and, depending on what kind of dancing you like, the floor isn't really big enough. Getting and keeping a seat can also be an issue if you get up to dance. Previous cruisers have said the music was good, I think the bad which were there a few weeks ago were a little bored/unhappy.

I'm not sure when you're travelling, but I think in the warmer months they use the aft pool area for parties etc. During the winter they use the Sportsplex, which makes it a bit like a school disco in the gym!

Thanks, I have read your review and hoped some of the smaller bars would also have dancing.

We are on the cruise out of New York in 2019.

Hoping to get at least a little dancing in on the Meraviglia. Only danced one dance on the Seaside last month which was a disappointment. The lounge was so very crowded and so was the dance floor and we really couldn't find any other places to dance. At least on the Divina the disco had a large floor although it wasn't great for dancing but appreciated a place to dance. We enjoy dancing to Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, a little Shagging, etc....... We will be going on the Meraviglia the end of the summer. Glad to see she has a walking track.......missed that on the Seaside as well. Don't get me wrong......had a wonderful time on the Seaside, just two important things were missing for us. Other than that, it was an awesome vacation!

Here's a photo of the track (I wonder how many observe the one-way system [emoji16])

I think you're going to be very disappointed with the lack of opportunities for dancing - I know I was! Babyeddiedog is right!

Meraviglia is nothing like Divina!

Thank you Beamafar for giving us more of an insight of the Meraviglia!! Is this a picture of the Meraviglia walking track???? Never saw a true walking/running track with lounge chairs!!! I guess if we get up with the birds (not sure we want to do that on vacation) before sunbathers are out there we might get a walk in. I'm disappointed in seeing this picture but appreciate the heads up. As for the dancing, now I'm really disappointed!! Wow...... will definitely be rethinking this cruise that we already have booked. Meant to say we will now possibly be cruising on the Meraviglia in October of 2019. At least if we decide to go forward with the cruise we will be aware.

That's the only pic I took of the track and I did so because I thought it was funny - are the runners supposed to jump the sunbeds ahead like hurdles? :D

We didn't care for the overall layout of Meraviglia. However, we absolutely loved our YC experience onboard so much that we've booked YC again for the next year in the Caribbean (we would only book YC on this ship!)

There was dancing last week in the Meraviglia lounge on deck 6. The band were very good and there was good standard of dancers who obviously had been to lessons - I also liked the fact that boys and girls from the entertainment team were there to dance with solo guests (or ones where their partners didn't want to dance LOL)

Hi Beamafar.......still trying to decide whether or not we will be cancelling our October 2019 cruise...... My husband and I choose to walk a lot while cruising, usually after breakfast and lunch. Thinking it will be almost impossible to walk at all after lunch with the walking track probably getting so crowded. Do you know if there was any walking available on the lifeboat deck? We could walk on that deck (1/2 way around only) on the Divina and that was doable for us.

We booked Aurea experience on Meraveglia. We booked YC on Seaside last month (February) and one of the main reasons we wouldn't book YC again (most likely) on any ship is because we just don't utilize the sun deck at all. My sister and husband loved it and we went to visit them a few times (in our shorts) and ate lunch there twice which was very good. Felt a bit isolated in YC but that was our own fault. If we ever booked YC again, we would explore the ship more. YC was awesome (private DR and Top Sail lounge) and I'm glad we tried it, just not sure it's the right fit for us.

Would love to know if there is walking on the lifeboat deck or any other deck other than the walking/track.

Thanks for your help!

Hi little britain......glad to hear there was dancing in the Meraviglia lounge. I have read that this lounge gets extremely crowded and if you get up to dance the possibility of losing your seat was great. Did you notice any dancing in any other lounges? Have read that the dance floors are tiny. Did you find this?

Nice that the entertainment team filled in for the solo dancers. Found that on the Divina as well.....however, my husband loves to dance so that wasn't the case for us.....lol

Thanks for your help. Do you have any pictures of the lounges?

Sorry no pics,

The Meraviglia lounge certainly had the largest dance area. Couples were doing Tangos etc.

It really annoys me when people allow their children to get in the way of those trying to dancing properly.:evilsmile:

Unfortunately no one asked me to dance. I would think there was no issue in leaving your bag or pashima on the chair to keep it whilst you danced. I always got a seat immediately therefore I did not have any impression of it being crowded.

There was a very small dance area in the On Air Club too.

Yes, there was certainly a length of deck outside the casino that would be suitable - similar to Divina. There were other access points along the deck - I just mentioned the casino because I can't think offhand what deck it is and I don't have the deck plans to hand. Also, DH used to go out there to smoke when I was playing the slots!

We found the food in YC on Meraviglia to be the best we've ever had! So much so, that I couldn't help but order second helpings a couple of times despite the fact that I can't eat a lot in one sitting. We also loved that the restaurant is in the enclave, in contrast to on the Fantasia-class, where it's at the opposite end of the ship. We usually spend most of our time outside the enclave as I enjoy dancing - the Meraviglia lounge was just too packed to enjoy, despite the band being one of the best we've ever heard on a ship. We spent far more time in the YC on Meraviglia than we've done on our other 3 YC cruises on Fantasia ships and when we came home we said we'd never sail on her again unless it was in YC. We just didn't like the ship.

Yes ... we booked it while trying to decide what to do about our Divina booking (which we've decided to cancel, thanks to you giving the heads-up on the Holistics at Sea charter). Looks like a great itinerary. I reckon it'll get booked out quickly and there was 1 YC inside cabin available on deck 16 - a deck I wanted to be on - so I jumped!

Thank you little britain......I'm happy to hear there was at least some dancing. That's encouraging. I'm thinking there won't be many children on the 13 night October sailing as it is a repositioning cruise and school is in full force. So hopefully there won't be many kids on the dance floor. That bothers me too, especially if it is later in the evening!!

Thank you!!

Thank you Beamafar.....great to know there are other areas to walk. We can make the casino deck work for sure!!!

Wouldn't it be great if the YC Top Sail Lounge had some music and a dance floor (after dinner) for dancing.....would love that!!!

What didn't you like about the ship (Meraviglia)? That's how we felt about the Seaside even though we were in YC.....crazy how that ship wasn't a fit for us.....

Thank you!!! Maybe we will see you on the Meraviglia in October 2019......but we have booked Aurea.

I imagine that CC will organise an M&M on Meraviglia so we may yet meet up there! :) We'll also be spendiing a lot of the evenings around the main body of the ship - YC is far too sedate for us at night.

The biggest disappointment for me was the lack of dancing venues. Apart from the Meraviglia lounge, there really weren't any other lounges that we bothered with - unlike on Fantasia-class ships, which has far more choices of music venues. We also found that the Galleria got very cramped at night as everyone congregated to see the ceiling "shows". The Meraviglia lounge opens out onto the Galleria, as does the speciality restaurants, so the "shows" (IIRC, there were 3 every night) interrupted the atmosphere in the surrounding venues.

We also thought that the ship felt "dead" outside of the Galleria area, again, unlike Divina, etc, where there was activity from one end of the ship to the other. This was just our impressions. YMMV.

Is there a roll-call? (I haven't looked yet. Too busy planning our upcoming cruise on Splendida. Boarding in 19 days time for (hopefully) a glorious 28 nights in YC - can't wait!)

If you're going soon you'll be very pleased to know that the Top Sail Lounge does have a dance floor and a great pianist Edo, he saved our cruise when it came to dancing! His sets run from from waltzes and quicksteps to Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and even Robbie Williams. He really is a very talented man; he sings very well too.

After discovering the main lounge on deck 6 wasn't for us we spent every night in the YC lounge and it was brilliant. We danced all night after dinner and didn't go to bed until about 1:30am. There were some other couples who got up and danced too, it was certainly big enough for us all, even when we did mad disco moves :')

You were very lucky Babyeddiedog. There was nothing like that when we onboard. There was a guy who played background music on the piano, but it was very sedate. No way was anyone dancing in TSL when we were there! :(

Sounds like it was a hoot! :D
