Genevivev Posted March 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2018 First time cruiser: I watched a tips video which mentioned free playing cards on some cruise ships. Does anyone know if the Regal Princess has them? One less thing to pack? Sent from my SM-G920F using Forums mobile app
paul929207 Posted March 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2018 I believe all Princess ships have a time and a place set aside of games. There are usually decks of cards included. So you can take a deck or two. They are not the best cards.
cnkgirl Posted March 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2018 I was on the Regal in January and got some from the casino cashier, they were about $2.
Griller Posted March 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2018 I was on the Regal in January and got some from the casino cashier, they were about $2. If they were the ones with the corners cut off these are old casino cards, better quality than the "free" cards where the games are kept but well used. tammigirl Posted March 31, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Usually you can get cards in the library where they keep the rest of the games. Good tip about the casino cards, I never knew it. There are also cards in the gift shop - not free, of course.
Lucky TGO Posted March 31, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2018 We were on the Caribbean Princess in January. The Casino manager gave my wife a deck of cards with the corners cut off. No charge. Tony
Aus Traveller Posted March 31, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 31, 2018 They used to hand out free packs of cards, but I haven't seen this for years - maybe eight or so years. They also used to have them as a prize at trivia. Once again, I haven't seen this for years.
busterfla Posted March 31, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Purchased decks at $2 each at the Casino cashier window on the Crown. Either corner cut or notched in the middle on both sides. Very durable

myfuzzy Posted March 31, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Are they Princess "themed" or just general playing cards.

Sue Do-Over Posted March 31, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2018 The casino cards are notched, clipped or drilled. They always have a distinct logo printed on the back. Any time we've bought or been given a deck by casino hosts, the design did NOT match those currently in play. (We got a circle-patterned deck, diamond shapes in play). They're $1 or $2 at the cage -- sometimes the jokers are removed, depends on the protocol of each casino.

Creeskan Posted March 7, 2023 #15 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Hey there! I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to chime in on the topic of free playing cards on cruise ships. I'm going on a cruise soon. Can you suggest some fun games to play?
treykion Posted March 7, 2023 #16 Share Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) Unfortunately, I haven't been to the Regal Princess before, so I can't say for certain whether they offer free playing cards or not. However, it never hurts to ask when you're on board - the worst they can say is no, right? In the meantime, if you're looking for some free card games to play, you might want to check out casualgameplay.com. They have a variety of online games, including different types of solitaire and even tic tac toe, which you mentioned in a previous post. Plus, since they're online, you don't have to worry about packing anything extra for your trip! Regarding casino cards, I can definitely see how the notches and clipped edges would be a turn-off. MrsRogers1 Posted September 5, 2023 #17 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Guest relations have playing cards for free. Not the best quality but fine for a bit of holiday fun. We’ve just had done on Sky Princess 👑

We’ve just had done on Sky Princess 👑 On older ships where they still have a Library, there is normally a cabinet of games and in the cabinet there should be some decks of cards. If not, ask anyone on CD staff and they will replace with new supply. And correct - the cards are cheap and do not last long. We usually bring some. Oxo Posted September 5, 2023 #19 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Years ago you had free playing cards, post cards pens, etc. Those years are gone. Never coming back.

Every princess cruise I've been on this year has had free playing cards in the library/game room. And you can get free pens at the service desk, just ask, they'll give you several if you want.
9tee2Sea Posted September 5, 2023 #21 Share Posted September 5, 2023 every cruise ship I have been on recently has done away with free cards ( yes, they are in the game room, but please don't take them away from the room). Ask at the casino to purchase a deck, usually costs 1 buck. I too bring my own cards, and leave them in the game room on my last day.

These were provided in your cabin Free without asking.
