They should add a McDonald‘s specialty restaurant for just 7,99 USD (plus 18 service fee of course). I trust it will be full most of the time and people here will argue that it is worth the small extra fee as it is your and the kids vacation...

When my kids are old enough to enjoy a delicious burger from JR on Allure, they can have as many as they like—-they will just have to pay for them. Their normal cruise meal was already paid for by me. At least at a SR, you are getting some value for what you pay.

Gambling is my money, plus there is always a tiny chance of walking away a winner. JR is always a losing scenario.

By the way, I enjoy JR, I just don’t appreciate paying $10 ($40 for my family) on a cruise ship for it.

 

LOL! I thought your first post was sarcasm at it's finest but now you've gone and double down so I guess not. I'm not a Johnny Rockets fan but I'd spend $10 on burger way before dropping one dime in the casino. To each their own I guess.

I don't recall Johnny Rockets costing money in past cruises, but I also didn't get anything other than a milkshake from them. That brings me something else new to me - I remember getting a coupon booklet from Crown & Anchor or a free milkshake in past cruises (it's been at least 10 years since my last one). Each person got one, but now it's BOGO. The only reason I'm not complaining about it is because of all the restaurants that are on Symphony of the Seas, Johnny Rockets was the only one that was good. The food on RC is utterly AWFUL (on the first night we ate at Chops - I had to return my steak 3 times. It was so raw it wasn't even warm! We ate there again a few nights later, and this episode happened AGAIN!). I've gone from loyal to royal to a maybe 10% chance I'll choose them again next time out. Good excuse to branch out!

What RC ships offer burgers by the poolside or any other place burgers are grilled outside? ...

None regularly. Some may set up a BBQ near the pool from time to time, but that is not dependable. If having a poolside grill is imperative, Royal is not the right cruise line for you.

Wow not our experience. At breakfast time not very busy, especially at the beginning of the cruise, and lunch time always a line. We found it a very popular venue on all RC ships. Will be on Adventure in a couple of months, expect it to be busy like the Quantum, oasis and freedom class ships. because my DH and i minimize foods very high in calories, will dine once in JR. No malt or dessert for me!!!

Since everyone is saying they wouldn't pay $10 for a hamburger, I looked up menu prices for land based Johnny Rockets (I don't have one local). Also you don't just get a hamburger you get a side and soda...

 

Hamburger: $4.59

Onion Rings: $3.29

Soda: $1.79

Total: $9.67

 

So the prices on ship are comparable to their land based counterparts. So is it "right" that they charge you that, when their are offerings for "free". That goes back to the eternal discusion about speciality restaurant charges.

I don't think it's the price that makes people have a stink - the stink is that you have to pay for fast food + pay 18% gratuity. Even on land, it's not my cup of tea to pay $50+ for fast food for a family of 4, and you'll end up paying more than $50 for a meal at JR (and even more when, not if, you get milkshakes for your kids). No matter if it's all you can eat. Also, JR is nothing more than McDonalds or BK, it's fast food at the end of the day. I was on Carnival last year and they have a Guys Burger Joint - it was free and was always busy and all you can eat. Are they considering JR an "Upscale" dining experience? It's not like a Chops or Izumi, etc. Just make it somewhat reasonable and I bet they'd be more of a hit. JHMO
