The drive takes about 35 min...but can be a bit longer depending on traffic. There will be plenty of taxis...and they organize cruisers into large taxis (some are actually truck-type vehicles with benches in the back that can handle large groups. The taxi fares are set by the government and are fixed price per person with the rates posted at the taxi area (you know the cost before you go). The fare to Magans Bay should be around $10 per person (one way)...so you can compare that with the tour prices.

You do NOT need an excursion; this is an incredibly easy DIY port. As mentioned, you'll probably be ushered to a safari-style open air taxi and will be charged per person, each way, no negotiating. The entrance fee is $5.00 per person over 13 years old. There will be cabs waiting to take you back as well, you'll see them parked there. Here is a link to the website to help you plan your day:
