IrishLassie Posted April 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2018 Does anyone know how long it takes to get to Magen's Beach in St. Thomas from where Oasis docks? Are there cabs at the port to just take you over so you don't have to book an excursion? Thanks for any help. :D
Clarea Posted April 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2018 I don't know how long it takes, but there are taxis available and the second photo has the rates: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=55344734&postcount=
Rare Hlitner Posted April 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2018 The drive takes about 35 min...but can be a bit longer depending on traffic. There will be plenty of taxis...and they organize cruisers into large taxis (some are actually truck-type vehicles with benches in the back that can handle large groups. The taxi fares are set by the government and are fixed price per person with the rates posted at the taxi area (you know the cost before you go). The fare to Magans Bay should be around $10 per person (one way)...so you can compare that with the tour prices. Hank
sail7seas Posted April 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2018 Are HAL ships now docking at Crown Bay or Havensight. ? Havensight is closer to Magan's Bay Oasis docks at Crown Bay
Langley Cruisers Posted April 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2018 You do NOT need an excursion; this is an incredibly easy DIY port. As mentioned, you'll probably be ushered to a safari-style open air taxi and will be charged per person, each way, no negotiating. The entrance fee is $5.00 per person over 13 years old. There will be cabs waiting to take you back as well, you'll see them parked there. Here is a link to the website to help you plan your day: http://magensbayauthority.com/ .
