Question about the walk from Hyatt Place to Publix Supermarket at The Harbor Shop

Plan to stay at Hyatt Place for one night pre-cruise and either have dinner at Outback or walk over to The Harbor Shops. According to Google Maps, the walk is about 0.4 miles by walk through the parking toward Embassy Suite and enter the shopping center at Cordova Rd. It seems like the walk can be shorter if I take SE 10th Ave south and enter the shopping center at SE 20th St. Does anyone know if there is restriction on SE 10th Ave or SE 20 St?

From Hyatt Place exit front door turn right go across the street and walk through a public parking garage and you end up right in the corner of the Harbor Shopping center...This is the easy quick way we and many other's use. Once there you'll see how close Hyatt Place is to everything. We like to eat at Duffy's.

Thanks!

I had posted on an earlier thread with the same question, about the long walk 'around'.

So, turn right, South, not towards the Embassy Suites, and the parking garage is right there before L.A.Fitness....

Does it seem safe enough to cut thru there?

We could be arriving in the evening, for a quick pre-cruise overnight, and thought about checking out the Embassy Suites and getting a quick bite there. Not a big fan of Outback Steakhouse.

What other restaurants are good.

Thanks!

Yes...exactly...turn right when you walk out the door of the Hyatt Place and it's perfectly safe to cross the street and walk through the parking garage...it's open well lit and many will be doing the same.

Embassy Suites sits just to the right and in front of the Hyatt Place..no need to walk towards ES. This will all make more sense to you when you see it for your self.

Gilbert's is another restaurant in the Harbor Shopping center but we have always preferred Duffy's.

There's also an Irish Pub across the street from Embassy Suites...after dinner last March some of our family went over there for drinks...after all it was St Patrick's Day

We used to stay at Embassy Suites...but it's looking a bit tired and we have found Hyatt Place a much better option now...also I certainly wouldn't eat dinner at ES even when we stayed there we would still go to Duffy's for dinner. JMHO:)

Here are pics of the walk from Hyatt Place via the LA Fitness alley to Harbor Shops. You can walk thru the parking garage or an alley. Below you can see the Hyatt on the left. Just turn right and walk toward the alley at the bottom right.

And here is the alley. Perfectly safe! You will exit next to a Mexican restaurant on your right with Publix a short distance away straight ahead.

Thanks, the pictures clear up a lot about the area.

Just out of curiosity, why is there a multi-story garage there? For LA Fitness?

Yes, and for a huge office block on the other side as well as Harbor Shop patrons/staff who want to park in the shade in the hot Florida sun!

Did they close the Five Guys at Harbor Shops? When we were there about a week and a half ago, the sign is up but the store is being remodeled.

I work out at Orangetheory there every Sunday and Wednesday morning and noticed it was gone.  I couldn't tell if they closed or what.  It does look like Firehouse Subs is gone.

Five guys is gone and the Irish pub across from E.S. looks to have had a fire and is under construction.

Oh no, we had planned to eat there next month!

As to the OP,  your best option is to walk through the hotel and go out the end door, the opposite end from the pool.  Itis pretty much a straight walk from there to the Habour Shops.

We already went, that is why we found out Five Guys has been closed. We ended up eating at Gilbert's. It is good but was looking for a lighter meal after a long flight.

Just came back from there (and a great cruise).   Agree with walking out the side door opposite the pool, crossing the street, and we walk through the parking garage itself.  Have done it at 9 pm and felt perfectly safe.   As you'd expect, watch out for cars ----  but have never felt it was dangerous.

Staff at Embassy Suites are SO helpful and friendly.
