Alaska for teens?

Yeah, you'd be surprised by what kids will do to go in pools. Ours did on the Alaska trip (I did once or twice) where the pools were warmer than air temp.

In Skagway take the train or drive up to Emerald Lake.

We took our 13 y.o. son last year. When we weren't off the ship there is a rock climbing wall, bowling alley, hot tubs and other group activities that my son enjoyed actually doing with his parents! LOL!!

There will be tons for them to do. We did Alaska in the end of May a handful of years ago, there weren't a lot of kids on board, I was by far (next to the few kids) the youngest on board, and they were all super happy and super occupied when the ship was moving. In the ports we went out and did things, so I don't know about then... I don't know about the NCL ships that do Alaska, but the line we did had a covered pool, so it was warm, but it was kind of chilly in the water. But you could hang out on deck chairs.

Alaskan cruises are a total different animal than what you may have experienced in the past. These are more family oriented rather than party cruises. Educational even for teens, but still enough to do aboard when at sea to keep them occupied. Most days you will be ashore. Plan accordingly.

We have sailed with our teenagers in May (not to Alaska). There were not many teens on board but they found a way to find each other. Obviously, go to the teen club as its a spot for them to check out. Besides eating way too much and doing some activities (i.e. climbing wall, ropes course) they typically would not be doing every day, just hanging out with peers was a big deal for my teenagers and one of the things they like best about cruising.
