Club Royale Casino Certificate Change

Recommended Posts

I really don’t understand the concept of booking suites to get points in a loyalty program. I understand gambling for an often useless certificate even less.

If you can afford to gamble enough to get these benefits it would seem to me you could also afford to buy your own drink package and afford a couple scoops of ice cream. Seems silly to get upset about a program that is rewarding you for throwing away your money on nothing (aka gambling).

It’s your vacation enjoy it.

I will restrain myself on this.

It obviously does not effect you in a way to be a concern to you.

It is not an issue about being able to afford ice cream, it is about spending upwards of 5 figures on high end suites and spending lots of money in the casino.

Enjoying OUR vacation the way we want to enjoy it.

Customer A books an RS doesn't gamble spends $10k

Gets awarded 2 cruise points per night

Customer B books an RS using a $100 cruise certificate , spends $9,900.00

Gets awarded 1 cruise point per night.

Does that help you understand how silly and upset we all are

If we don't get the double points on all of our suites, we are done with RC also.

We are not afraid to spend thousands on other lines

I have about 7-8 suites booked after June that I paid a decent amount to upgrade from an ocean view or interior comp certificate. I will be going through all of those and downgrade back to my comp certificate category. That will cost them several thousand dollars. PLUS if I do decide to gamble I will only apply my certificates to regular staterooms, as cheap as possible. No more suites

We are booked on MSC in yacht club and booked the RS without any certificates or discounts or casino coded offers.

What I do know is when we hit the casino on Seaside, we will get 30% discount of our next MSC cruise.

MSC actually solicited us to try their brand, funny how they knew we like to throw our money away on free ice cream and expensive suites.

Milwaukee you are absolutely right this will put the brakes on a lot of loyal customers speeding towards diamond, diamond plus...

It will actually force you to spend double in the casino and or double on cruises to obtain different levels.

It really pulls the casino players out of the "fast track" advantage of pissing our money away in the casino to reach higher crown and anchor levels. This is "free" money they will lose in the end.

To throw even more of a spanner in the works I have heard from a reliable source they are even looking at changing C&A to combine points from RC, X and Azamara to create new tier levels. Given X give points based on category imagine the mess that would cause. Our 1 point for our high end suites would be worthless!

Thankfully the only good thing is that they are so slow to implement changes this might take several years to get implemented

The way I see it is an awful lot of casino players are "high rollers" The casino gives them a free room then they upgrade it to a suite. Getting double the points towards a higher level. They save a lot more than $100 or $200 . Some "real high rollers" are given suites from the start.

My wife and I have 75 cruises with Royal (plus 2 starting this Sunday) We have worked every angle from "Diamonds in Dec" to Junior suites, And even booking 2 connecting inside cabins, one for my wife and one for me.

If you are on the big ships you get to use the Coastal Kitchen if you are in a suite. One of the best "perks".

Even with only one point per day. Just cruise more. Since we decided to go for Pinnacle we have cruised over 35 times in the last 2 years. I was under the impression that years ago if you got a "free" cruise you didn't get any points, unless you spent some money on an upgrade. I can't verify it because we never got a free cruise.

Wish I could cruise more but with kids in school that's not always possible when we already sail multiple times a year.

You are obviously loyal to Royal and driven by points, that is apparent in your signature.

75 times in 2 years in inside cabins, probably relates to the 7 times in 2 years of sailing in high end suites.

Let me make this clear, I do not care how someone reaches a certain level, that is their business.

And congrats to you on soon becoming pinnacle.

We like suites, there are 3 of us and space is important to us .

Once you are Pinnacle you get all the perks anyways.

So points, offers, rewards etc are a non issue as you can book an inside cabin for $600 and get suite perks and 1pt

The same as a non gambling $6000 occupant of an Owners suite would get 2pts

But a casino player booking an owners suite using a $400 certificate doesn't get rewarded with two points for spending thousands on a High end suite 1pt only

And probably spends $5k upwards in the casino.

The whole C&A relationship with CR has really complicated two pretty good programs in their own entity.

Don't fix what's not broken springs to mind

Lots of stuff goes with a full Suite especially on Oasis Class. SL/CK, VOOM, Helipad Sail Away. Typically a Advanced towel creature each evening. Reserved seating in theater/shows/ice show. Escorted walk off.

Just the SL/CK make it worth it.

No helipad sailaway on oasis the two weeks we were on in Oct. They had a capt. reception instead. On allure there was a helipad sailaway.

Check out the last post on Cruise critic in the Cruise Casinos Forum - Offers received from Club Royale

Someone just heard back from Royal - They are keeping the double points for suites.

I just received this message from RCI

Thanks for your patience, Mary. After reviewing the policy, we've decided our Casino Royale members will still receive double points when upgrading. I do apologize for the frustration this may have caused, and please know, we greatly appreciate your loyalty. -Val

I didn't ask specifically about certificates as I had booked with a casino rate. My casino rate was during the 30% off promo and then I received an additional $750 off and some OBC.

Just found out.......... effective yesterday 4/15/18....... you no longer will receive double credits for a JS booking if you use one of the Casino Cruise Certificates. I was also informed you can no longer use multiple certificates for a single booking ( I have done this in the past)......seemingly there is no end to the trend...............

OP, I want to thank you for bringing this to our attention. You mobilized the CC army, and we are able to keep earning double points.

Great work everyone!

But we still don't know if we get double points when sailing in a suite applying a casino certificate, right? I have 16 of those booked!!

The issue was whether those who were using a casino discount could get double points for suites. A casino certificate is a discount, so I think yes. But if you are still concerned, why not call CR to confirm? If you call, please let us know what you find out.

I’ll know for sure in about two weeks (one week cruise, one week for points to post). We’re using a certificate. I’ll post here to let you know if we get double points.

Thanks -- I'll be B2B on Allure in a grand suite using certificates in ten days so I'll be checking on here during my sailing. Here's hoping.....

this isn’t going to happen. The C&A Director said yesterday on Mariner there will be no new levels.

They did the right thing. When you look carefully what they were trying to do they would have had to change a lot more to keep it consistent. Great job everyone.

I've never been a big fan of Royal's ability to correct things. But this time it seems like they succeeded.

I could understand not giving double points for a completely comped suite. But using the certificates would cost Royal the same amount of money no matter what category cabin you decided on. That part never made sense to me. I wonder if someone in corporate got it wrong in the translation?

I still haven't figured out how the "new" program is going to benefit RCCL or Casino Royale. But I for one am happy to see it.
