Grand kids and room cards what’s the best way to do this.

Well, for kids, a lanyard will work best. Unless they have pockets...then that works well. When they are with YOU, you should have their stuff, but if they are going to be out and about on their own, then they will need their card to get in the cabin or to purchase things. If you are keeping them on a tight rein, and they will either be in the kid's club or with you, they have no need of their card and you should keep it.

We went with lanyards with our 12yo sons with a lot of yelled "don't forget your lanyards!" as we left the room. They were fine wearing them the entire cruise (except for remembering to grab them as they left.

There's a tray in the kids club that the drop them off in, if I remember correctly. Lanyards would help to differentiate their key cards from others as well to make it easier for them to grab it when leaving.

Your REAL question should be - do you allow them to check themselves out of the kids club? If you OK it when you sign them up, they can check themselves out after being there for 2 hours.

Keep in mind they won't be able to wear a lanyard or wristband on a waterslide. If their swimsuits have a tight pocket, no problem they can put them in there. Otherwise you may want to hold them during those activities.

I would say 12yos don't need to buy things onboard, you don't have to allow charging on their cards. You can be with them for purchases or they can enjoy the complimentary items on the ship.

Enjoy making memories as they grow so fast at those ages!

Taking two twelve yo grand kids on their first cruise.

Other than lanyards what is the best way for them to keep track of their cruise cards?

Did you have any questions about things for them to do, and if so, which ship are you going on?

On our last cruise, our 5-YO GS went to use the bathroom in the Haven. He got disoriented and went through the door leaving the Haven. We had his key card. It took some time to find him. If he would have had his key card the crew member who found him would have been able to have taken him directly to the Haven.

Well, I don’t think they should be shopping in the gift shop, but it would be handy to have the card if they have the soda package.
