What’s happening with the Sapphire Princess cruises between Oct 21 and Nov 28, 2018?

We are booked on the Sapphire Princess for Oct 21 this year and I noticed this week that the 6 cruises on this ship between that date and Nov 28, 2018 have the comment below. I was told by my TA that our cruise has not been cancelled but those sailings are sold out. She said she thought this was a red flag for her but was unable to get any answers from Princess. Can anyone tell me what this means?

Pricing is currently not available for this date or the selected cabin type. Please try a different departure date, cabin type or check back later. You may also call 1-800-774-6237for further details.

It "usually" means in my experience, that they are reassessing how many cabins are actually sold and on guarantee and then refiguring pricing, etc. Usually when you go back in 24-48 hours later it is back up with some staterooms that weren't available available and pricing all different. Usually if an itinerary were really sold out and not available running forward, then it just says "sold out."

Agree with Pooh. When the cruise is sold out it prominently displays Sold Out in all cabin categories. I've seen the message posted by the OP before. Just keep checking back.

and "sold out" doesn't always mean that every cabin has been sold...Princess is just not taking any more reservations at that time...and people do cancel and cabins open up

call Princess and ask to be put on a waiting list...and as above , keep checking back often...

That's especially true for voyages that are segments of a longer voyage, and they

hope to sell a stateroom for that entire, longer voyage.

I have a cruise next year where the longer cruise has cabins listed as “Sold” but they’re available on shorter cruise segments of the longer cruise. So Yield Management can result in both of the situations we’ve described.

Sometimes my TA has been able to get Princess to book our preferred cabin despite showing “Sold”.

This keeps happening when I look at my Alaska cruise for 2019. I can be looking at one cabin type and when I change types, the screen changes to have that comment and no pricing. Usually, I can hop on another date, then go back and it clears it. When it is working, there is still tons of availability.

  • 2 months later...

I'm on the Oct 21 departure and Final Payment is Due August 7th next week so there might be some openings. If oversold it will be like last year we were offered two free cruises to forfeit our Baltic Cruise.
