Fight in dining room on Paradise

Recommended Posts

Alcohol is not the only thing that could put someone into a rage state like that . Some people say or do innapropriate things with other peoples spouses or boyfriend or girlfriend . Or even something done to a family member . Just the other week a coworker returned from a cruise that was for a friends wedding they put women in rooms together and men in another breaking up married couples . My coworker was in a room with a married friend of hers who cheated on her husband on the cruise . I'm sure if that got out during the trip it would not have been pretty .

Tables flipped over hmmm aren't they mostly secure to the floor . Food for thought

The "table flipped" thingy is what caught my attention as well. I'm quite sure that they are ALL bolted to the floor. It'd take quite a lot to rip one of them off the floor, and flip it over. I too think this is probably either "fake", or blown WAY out of portion...

"SKY".

It was actually two middle-aged ladies that appeared to be part of the same group - yelling and swearing

They may have been women but I assure you they weren't ladies. It isn't you, society has stopped recognizing the distinction and it's a shame.

This fight didn't happen, no mention of it on Twitter and no one has posted any credible info from any other source. If there really was a brawl there would have been some reporting of it on some media platform. My guess is that someone on may have confused the fight from February on the Legend as something that was recent.

Just off the Vista Sunday. I was in the casino very late Thursday night and a guy was screaming obscenities at a woman who just sat there looking at the floor and not saying anything. This went on for a good 15 minutes. It was close to the cashiers but they just ignored them. I was worried it was going to get physical as the guy was waving his fists at her. I went up to a casino worker and asked him to call secrurity and he just shrugged and walked away. They eventually left but I was really worried for her. If he treated her that way in public how does he treat her in private.

Who gets to decide what's "reasonable"?
The powers that be within Carnival decided on the 15 drink limit, did they not? So to answer your question, they get to decide.

In most bars on land, bartenders get to decide when to cut someone off. That makes the most sense.

True enough, but with no danger of the liability from drunk drivers, a bartender on a cruise ship (whose income depends on tips, especially automatic ones that presumably come with Cheers) will probably continue to serve unless the person has caused a serious problem already. Ship security would not have that conflict of interest and may be a more appropriate authority to cut someone off, besides the captain and his/her delegates.

On the other subject, not finding ANY other mentions of this story outside of this website, I am going to chalk this one up to a hoax, or someone blowing a minor issue WAY out of proportion. Any search I run is dominated by the February incident on the Legend, during which a group on the ship was allowed to get out of control, and security appeared unable to deescalate.

Lots seem to be suspecting too much alcohol. I agree that is likely the culprit, but let's not forget that alcohol doesn't really morph someone into a completely different person - though it seems to with some - but only gives them courage to be the jerk they really are. I, for one, would be in favor of reasonable drink limits on cruise ships. I realize it isn't going to happen though. If only folks had a little more self discipline. Sad.

Sad that some people still seem to think this way. Unfortunately, "self-discipline" doesn't work for some people when drinking. Alcohol and other drugs affect the brain, which affects reasoning and logic and therefore self-control. Those with a predeliction for booze don't handle it the same way a social drinker does.

Brain imaging and MRIs taken of problem drinkers show much different electical patterns and activity than those of normal "social" drinkers.

Now I'm not condoning drunken behavior, just saying some process achohol differently than most. Just like self discipline doesn't work on Noro, these people lose their control after alcohol is ingested.

So in their case you think restricting drinks is unreasonable? I'm just trying to figure out your point. Maybe you aren't making one, just trying to educate me. It isn't necessary. I grew up with one of these poor souls you speak of, btw. He was my dad. I don't hate him for the things alcohol gave him the courage to do, nor do I hold a grudge. He was my dad (and a good one when sober) and I loved him. But I will not excuse his behavior because it has a name. Some folks want to get rid of guns. Me, I'd like to get rid of alcohol. And no, it isn't going to happen. But I can dream.

We were on this ship and heard about the incident early the next morning. We had left the dining room about 10 minutes before it happened. We were told it was one of the big tables by the windows. One diner had the sun beaming right in his face and asked the person closest to the curtain to close it. They refused. Table was turned over, broken glass everywhere and we were told there was a broken leg. Others had cuts from broken glass. The situation apparently got pretty ugly before it was able to be calmed down. The lady that told us said she was going to upload a video but I haven't seen anything so far. The crew was getting ready to do their "dance thru the dining room" routine so it highly possible it was caught on video by someone. This lady was really sweet, a frequent cruiser and we had no reason not to believe her.

Agreed. Simply blaming alcohol over-consumption is too simplistic. I could be drunk out of my mind but would still not engage in a fist fight as I am simply not prone to solving problems that way. I find physical altercations very uncomfortable and idiotic. Whereas I am sure there are some whose first thought is to throw a punch.

I'm with you. A lot of alcohol makes me a very happy person and too much alcohol makes me sleepy. Alcohol can not always be blamed for people ignorance

In the years I have been on this planet, men drinking and girls do not mix. I have seen several fights while on CCL ships and in almost all cases alcohol was involved, fights seem to break on CCL ships most of the time. Some people do not know how to act in public. Besides the upscale cruise lines probably do not have to deal with this issue.

A lot of people's personalities totally change with to much drink.

The only way is to throw these people off at the next port and keep them locked in their cabin's till they dock

Once the punishment lessons are known people might think twice before terrorising other passengers

This is terrible. I cannot imagine anything that would cause people having fun to come to blows. I hope the instigator is charged with mayhem and be forced to make little ones out of big ones (rocks) for a long time.

Haven't read all replies so excuse me if this is a repeat. But I suspect large quantities of alcohol was involved.
