drumming cruisers Posted June 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Saw someone mention they had to wait an hour to tender in Juneau from Pearl. Since when did NCL start tending in AK ports? Been there at least 6 times and never tendered
don't-use-real-name Posted June 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2018 There are -3- piers (berths) at Juneau 2 right under in close proximity to the Mt Roberts Tram Franklin Street the other fixed pier is the AJ dock about 1/4 mile away requiring bus shuttle service to the town center. Now with only 3 piers only 3 ships can be berthed - any more and the rest have to tender. Recently the BLISS used the AJ dock while the other two berths were used by other ships. I believe the reason the PEARL had to wait was the BLISS was scheduled to depart at 1300 hours and then the PEARL would have access to the AJ dock scheduled at 1400 hours - PEARL was early and had to wait for the BLISS to leave. So maybe the PEARL tendered some shore excursion guests while waiting. A good deal for them giving them extra time. Any comments further is something different happened - - - ? Rare BirdTravels Posted June 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2018 The Bliss is scheduled to leave Juneau at 1:30 pm. The Pearl is scheduled to arrive in Juneau at 2:00 pm. The Pearl arrived at 12:40 pm and rather than wait until 2:00 pm, she began tendering. Looked like only a coupe of tenders running. deliver42 Posted June 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2018 We were on the Jewel and saw the same thing happening. The Pearl came and the Jewel was waiting for a few passengers, so the Pearl had to wait till we left. I don't know if they tendered anyone. rocklinmom Posted June 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2018 We had to tender in the last time we were in Juneau. It depends on how many ships are there that day.

Bliss is huge compared to other ships. Been on Escape and Getaway, and RCL Oasis, too big and crowded for us,

BQ - you are correct there are -4- cruise docks - 3 along Franklin Street under the Mt. Roberts Tram and the distant* AJ dock * While as the crow flies it is less than a quarter mile the roadway around private property does take about a mile to get into town - easy walking grade. Love my butler Posted June 8, 2018 #12 Share Posted June 8, 2018 There are tendered stops icy strait point was a tender. And others are if they are over booked. Icy Straight built a dock a few years ago. It's only a tender now if more than one ship is in port.

Your inaccurate posts are ripe for assumptions of first timers, looking for transfers from the AJ dock. Who is going to check further when you state 1/4 mile?
